Introduction
Welcome everyone to the final week of January. It feels like this month just flew by, and on top of that, this Venus Retrograde, who is the star of the show this week. On Saturday, Venus will finally station direct and will be moving forward through the sky instead of backward. This station really sets the tone for the week because when a planet is at its station (the point where it will change to be direct or retrograde) it won’t move from that degree of the zodiac for a while making it still in the sky. This Venus in Capricorn transit has been the start of a construction project, and during the Retrograde we’ve had to make some design changes. Since Venus is getting ready to station Direct, you will start to see things moving forward again. Fewer revisions, obstacles, delays, and more applied action to move onward and get things done. On Monday, Mars enters Capricorn to assist with putting Venus’ changes into effect at FULL force. Mercury, just coming from a conjunction with the Sun, is emerging from the beams of the Sun, becoming visible only in the morning before sunrise as a Morning Star, bringing in and delivering news. Mercury’s delivery is meant to go to Pluto. It could be said that Mercury is bringing Pluto up from the underworld, visible for all to see, but it’s not a pretty picture. Pluto shows us the issues of power and control. Their conjunction is on Friday.
Monday Jan 24th
(7:52 AM ET) INGRESS: Mars enters Capricorn
(10:57 PM ET) INGRESS: Moon enters Scorpio
(11:47 PM ET) Moon in Scorpio sextile Mars at 00º28’ Capricorn
On Monday, we start off our week with Mars entering the sign of its Exaltation in Capricorn. The concept of Exaltation (and Fall) are two states of dignity the planets can be in. Exaltation elevates and moves the planet towards a state of increase, while Fall (or Depression) depresses the planet and moves it towards a state of decrease or repression. Mars will stay in this sign from Jan 24th to March 6th, providing us with boldness and audacity to execute our plans and see the material manifestations of our efforts. Mars is moderated and tamed in Capricorn and can be channeled constructively. We don’t have the same hot head in Aries that we do in Capricorn, Mars has cooled down, is level headed, and is ready to get shit done.
Think long term for this transit. Don’t sit down and create a 1 month goal. Create a year long plan. Plan for the distant future. Mars plays the long game in this sign, and because Mars is in the sign of its Exaltation: Mars is winning. Mars has a lot of strength, force, boldness, determination, and stamina. Mars is able to materialize its desires into physical, tangible things in the Earth Signs, through sheer tenacity, and the Cardinal influence of Capricorn pushes Mars to start and initiate things, becoming a well rounded leader, knowing how to accomplish the battles and fights to become victorious. Its really great energy for executing a project or plan of action. If you don’t have any plans, Mars in this sign gives you an opportunity to start planning.
Mars is going to be primarily be assisting and supporting Venus here in Capricorn, which ignites Venus and gives her an extra boost of energy. Mars is an energy drink. Mars cares about sustained and persistent action coupled with the stamina of a thousand years. Mars takes our efforts and filters them through Saturn, the ruler of this sign. Stretching them out longer and longer. We’re going to find as Mars enters this sign, we need to start planning a course of action & to take care of the topics of the house it will enter in our chart. Mars in Capricorn is great if you want to bring something into existence through pure effort. Mars gives us the boldness and stamina. Great for starting new projects. You can achieve what you desire with the assistance of Mars. In other ways, Mars entering this sign brings plot, schemes, secrets, all used to strategize fights, war, and conflict. Mars in Capricorn is known for being a symbol of conflict, and we’ll definitely see people bold in their attacks against others.
Monday sets the tone for the week, where Mars wants us to get shit done, and the Moon entering Scorpio at the beginning of the week also sets up the vibe of the beginning of the week, since the Moon enters the sign of its Depression/Fall, but it is ruled by an exalted planet. This means that Monday through Thursday, really the majority of the week, is characterized by what we are hungry for. What do we desire? Where do we feel malnourishment and not taken care of? They will sextile at the end of the day, leading into Tuesday, allowing us to take action to provide for ourselves and pull ourselves out of a challenging situation, when the environment around us does not support it.
Tuesday Jan 25th
(12:50 AM ET) Moon in Scorpio square Mercury Retrograde at 01º04’ Aquarius
(8:40 AM ET) FINAL QUARTER: Moon in Scorpio square the Sun at 05º33’ Aquarius
(9:01 AM ET) Moon in Scorpio trine Jupiter at 05º44’ Pisces
(1:02 PM ET) PHASE CHANGE: Saturn enters The Beams of the Sun (within 8º)
(6:41 PM ET) Moon in Scorpio sextile Venus Retrograde at 11º18’ Capricorn
(10:04 PM ET) INGRESS: Mercury Retrograde re-enters Capricorn
On Tuesday, we start off our day with the Moon in Scorpio making squares to Mercury and the Sun. With Mercury, this square talks about the releasing of some information (because ita a final quarter Moon) that carries these themes of malnourishment and something not being supported or cared for met with the responsibility of what to do next. What do we need to change with Mercury Retrograde? Scorpio and Aquarius are the emotions and pain we have that conflict with our fixed thoughts and ideas about society and reality. Water and Air make the day communicative about the heaviness of how we feel. Both Water and Air share the Wet quality to them, making them malleable, changeable, and not possessing any sort of form. We find an opportunity to talk about these things on Tuesday. The Moon then makes a trine to Jupiter which may add to the fluidness of expression of this pain. Scorpio is the idea of being in hurt or in pain, since it is Water and has retention, collective, and absorbing things into itself and this is ruled by Mars. It’s the way our body responds to pain or to hurt. With Jupiter, it could make us feel this even more because we have an emotional perspective. Healing usually hurts more than pain. Healing is not an easy process, and Jupiter is here to show us this, because the trine aspect is beautiful, and the Moon then moves to Venus, being enclosed by the benefics for most of the day. It will feel like tending to your wounds, old and new. Be open to receiving help or support.
This day is so interesting because Mercury and the Moon have their square off today, but at the end of the day, Mercury re-enters the sign of Capricorn. Mercury has some news to deliver to the God of the Underworld, Pluto in Capricorn, while Mercury is in its transition to being a morning star, who is actually coming up from the Underworld and has brought Pluto up with him. What does it mean for Pluto to be brought up from the Underworld by Mercury? Pluto represents secrets, hidden things, power dynamics, tools and means of control, and metamorphoses. Mercury is delivering news about these topics for all to talk about and explore. It can literally be interpreted as something rising from the dead. Mercury will be spending the next 2 weeks here until Valentine’s Day on February 14th.
If the plot couldn’t thicken further, Saturn also sets under the beams of the sun on this day. So what does this mean? We know the Sun has its orb and its body but it is also very luminous and has bright rays, these rays are known as the beams of the Sun and they span 15º of each side of the Sun. Planets that come into contact with these beams will be invisible in the sky because of how close they are to the Sun. What Saturn represents is disappearing from the sky temporarily: stability, structure, order, foundation. Saturn is a planet representing fear and anxiety and it is possible that because Saturn gets closer to the planet representing our consciousness and mind (the Sun), we may find ourselves in a state of fear panic, or anticipation. It is best to ground yourself
Wednesday Jan 26th
(12:41 AM ET) Moon in Scorpio square Saturn at 14º47’ Aquarius
On Wednesday, after the eventful Tuesday, we have the Moon square Saturn, which kind of depresses the entire mood for the day. I’ll be very honest. It can make us aware of emotional obstacles that are hard to overcome. Saturn lets us know that some things take time, and you’re going to have to be told no now, but that doesn’t mean you will be told no in the future. Give yourself time to rest and to pause. Saturn can be our friend when we listen to its warnings of rest and pausing. Sometimes that’s the only thing you can do when you’re faced with adversity. The Moon applying to Saturn and then going void for pretty much 24 hours, is being told rejected and kind of in this limbo where you don’t know what to do next. If you find any obstacles, blockages, or delays it’s better to decide what you should do about it tomorrow and just leave things how they are.
Thursday Jan 27th
(12:27 AM ET) Moon in Scorpio sextile Mercury Retrograde at 28º44’ Capricorn
(1:14 AM ET) Moon conjoins the South Node at 29º12’ Scorpio
VOID MOON: 12:27 AM ET to 2:34 AM ET, 2 hours and 7 minutes
(2:34 AM ET) INGRESS: Moon enters Sagittarius
(1:01 PM ET) Moon in Sagittarius square Jupiter at 06º14’ Pisces
(3:46 PM ET) Moon in Sagittarius sextile the Sun at 07º53’ Aquarius
Its going to be really easy to feel worse than to feel better as we move into Thursday, because the Moon will reach the south node. This will be the first time the Moon conjoins the South Node in Scorpio since the Nodes ingressed on Jan 18th, 2022. The Moon calls us to take care of our body on this day and to take our the “poison” from different parts of our life. Poision is what drains you of energy. Protect the tender parts of yourself and find some way to communicate them as the Moon gets to Mercury.
The Moon will leave the challenging situation in Pisces and now enter Sagittarius, and this will be the first time the Moon is visiting Sagittarius without the South Node being here. The craziness of the Sagittarius topics on our life have calmed down a little more down, and we can have a more moderated experience of Sagittarian faith, optimism, and fun. We don’t take it to the extreme anymore with the South Node gone from here. We can find a sober boundary between optimism and realism, after all Jupiter is the lord of temperance. We find some inspiration to make things better after we feel hurt when the Moon squares Jupiter and then sextiles the Sun. We’re harvesting what we can from the experiences in our life, and setting and preparing for planting new seeds by the New Moon in the beginning of the next week.
Friday Jan 28th
(3:39 AM ET) Moon in Sagittarius sextile Saturn at 15º02’ Aquarius
VOID MOON: 3:39 AM ET to 4:08 AM ET the next day, 23 hours and 31 minutes
(11:16 PM ET) Mercury Retrograde conjoins Pluto at 26º51’ Capricorn (2/3)
On Friday, Mercury and Pluto are the stars of the show here. Mercury, like I said earlier, is bringing Pluto back up from the dead and the past. Friday is a day to chat about the future and responsibility for the future based on the past. Expect people trying to control or twist words around. Is Mercury natural or has Mercury been bribed by Pluto to say something? The Moon will mostly be void today so while it may like we have an intense mental fixation on something with Mercury and Pluto and we are compelled to speak change into existence through our words. Our words have magnitude on Friday, and the Moon connecting with Saturn makes us realize the consequences our present actions have for the future.
Saturday Jan 29th
(3:45 AM ET) STATION: Venus stations Direct at 11º04’ Capricorn
(4:08 AM ET) INGRESS: Moon enters Capricorn
(10:10 AM ET) Moon conjoins Mars at 03º42’ Capricorn
(3:03 PM ET) Moon in Capricorn sextile Jupiter at 06º42’ Pisces
(10:08 PM ET) Moon conjoins Venus at 11º05’ Capricorn
As Mercury conjoins Pluto yesterday, everything is setting under the beams, a lot of cycles are ending and closing. Especially with Saturn, but Venus is also taking one major step towards closing a cycle today too as she stations Direct at 11º Capricorn. Venus will be stuck around 11º for a few days, so Venusian topics of socialization, friendship, joy, pleasure may start to feel more accessible and less challenging topics to approach. In the same sense, Venus stationing Direct while its lord is setting under the beams, represents some sort of boundary or blockage being removed that gives Venus a green light. The Moon will also enter Capricorn to conjoin Venus at the end of the day. Before the Moon reaches Venus, it conjoins Mars, getting ignited, inspired with passion and motivation, then a sextile to Jupiter gives us an opportunity and helping hand to get things into motion, and the Moon delivers these opportunities to Venus. This station gives me block breaker energy, like roadblocks being cleared from your path, but don’t let your fear and anxiety get the best of you. Mars in Capricorn has a lot of courage because it is willing to face and conquer its fears. Mars does not let fear consume them in Capricorn, but moves through fear.
Sunday Jan 30th
(2:31 PM ET) Sun in Aquarius square Uranus at 10º52’ Taurus
(9:25 PM ET) Moon conjoins Mercury at 25º30’ Capricorn
(11:43 PM ET) Moon conjoins Pluto at 26º55’ Capricorn
As we close out the week, The Moon passing over Mercury and Pluto brings the news that is being released on Friday to the forefront of our conversations today. We find action and authority being met with disruption as the Sun squares Uranus. We’re forced to change our perspective. Think about Uranus as a planet– it literally spins on its side at a 97º tilt, looks at things differently, flips our perspective on its side. The square between Aquarius and Taurus is tradition versus future. Our focus is on the future with the Sun in Aquarius, and tradition and complacency of values are being disrupted with Uranus in Taurus. It’s a rough way to end the week and the month, but the best thing to do on Sunday is to take a bath, make time for some self-care, and call it a day. The nervous system is put under a lot of stress with the Moon, Mercury, and Pluto.
