Introduction
Welcome to the 3rd week of 2022 everyone! This week is a big one, we’re starting it off with a Full Moon in Cancer, where the Moon is at home, really bringing this week’s energy to a peak on the Moon’s Day (Monday). We find a release of this energy that has buildup from last week into this week. On Tuesday, the North and South Node will change signs, entering Taurus and Scorpio. The Nodes are the Eclipse Points in the sky, and the signs that they move through tell us what signs the Eclipses of that year will fall in. This is because the North and South Node are the intersections of the Sun’s apparent orbit around Earth and the Moon’s orbit around Earth. The points where they intersect, the nodes, represent points where the Sun and Moon are equal in latitude, and when they’re equal in latitude and are within 18º of the Nodes, we get Eclipse season. Now that the Nodes enter Taurus and Scorpio, the Eclipses will take place in these signs for 2022. Take a look at the houses that Taurus and Scorpio rule in your chart, and then the topics that these houses represent will be areas of your life where you experience important beginnings and endings for the next 18 months. In addition to that, we move into Aquarius Season, which stabilizes the winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Things get pretty fixed, stabilized, and create form. However, the Sun moves into the sign of its exile, in Aquarius. Where the Sun’s home is in Leo, it finds itself exiled, calling us to take a more detached understanding from the environment around us, and think about what we are attached to in the first place.
Monday Jan 17th
(5:18 AM ET) Moon in Cancer trine Neptune at 21º01’ Pisces
(4:07 PM ET) Moon in Cancer opposes Pluto at 26º29’ Capricorn
(6:48 PM ET) LUNATION: Full Moon at 27º50’ Cancer
VOID MOON: 6:48 PM ET to 11:03 PM ET
(11:03 PM ET) INGRESS: Moon enters Leo
On Monday, we get our buildup to the Full Moon in Cancer. This Full Moon takes place in a close opposition to Pluto, who has just been reborn by the Sun yesterday. This Full Moons themes are definitely rooted in family dynamics of power and control. We may become illuminated about certain power dynamics that pose a threat to our sense of comfort and stability. The Moon is here in its home sign, Cancer at her brightest during the Full Moon. Ask yourself what you need to feel comfortable and secure. Cancer is the crab, who has this protective shell guarding it from the dangers of the world. With the Moon full of light here, think about what ways being told to stay in your shell has been used as a form of manipulation. What are you scared of? How does this fear inform your ability to be comfortable in your own shell? We find some flexibility and initiation to change and grow into a container that can hold us in our fullness and at our brightest. Think about what house Cancer rules in your chart, you’ll find some revelations as to what disrupts your sense of comfort or stability during this Full Moon. Face your fears, you’re stronger than you have been made to think. Later in the day, the Moon will enter Leo, more on this on tomorrow.
Tuesday Jan 18th
(10:25 AM ET) STATION: Uranus stations Direct
(1:49 PM ET) INGRESS: North Node enters Taurus and South Node enters Scorpio
(3:39 PM ET) Moon in Leo opposes Mercury Retrograde at 08º29’ Aquarius
(8:11 PM ET) Moon in Leo square Uranus at 10º49’ Taurus
On Tuesday, we start with the Moon freshly in Leo, heating things up for the next few days. The topics of the Leo Moon, as a Fixed Fire Sign, deal with identity, validation, being seen and acknowledged, and understanding the self. The Moon comes to oppose Mercury, bringing about conflict of information, conflicting or contradicting news that comes unexpectedly as a result of the square to Uranus. Since Mercury is Retrograde, unexpected revisions and changes are made that prevent us from doing what we want. We have to find ways to get creative and find different solutions. Speaking of Uranus, today Uranus will station direct after moving in Retrograde motion since Aug 19th, 2021. Today is the day of the unexpected, and after gaining perspective what instability or disruption lies in the house Taurus rules in our chart, we find an opportunity through this Mercury Retrograde to do things differently and think outside of the box. Tuesday is a huge day aside from all the Mercury/Uranus stuff going on, because the North and South Node change signs today.
The North Node, the Head of the Dragon, moves into Taurus for the next 18 months. At the North Node, the Moon increases in latitude in the sky, becoming more visible overhead, representing increase. Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of beauty, luxury, sensuality in a material, grounded, Earth Sign. There is going to be a desire to bring more stability and comfort to the house that Taurus rules in your chart. You can expect great beginnings to come to this part of your chart by April 30th with the Solar Eclipse in Taurus, and culminations around Nov 8th, 2022 with the Lunar Eclipse in Taurus. I’ve been forecasting this transit as a period where we have a desire to connect to the material, to the tangible, and focus on improving our physical resources and sense of comfort. Taurus is where the Moon is exalted, and when a planet is exalted it is being lifted up and moved towards a state of increase. In context with all the issues of labor rights, lack of rest, and housing and food crisis across the US and the world, we’re going to find that the North Node in Taurus brings major changes to the way we ascribe value and worth to things in our lives. We’re looking for more comfort and rest in a world that denies us of this human right under capitalism. There’s a desire to bring more balance and peace to the house Taurus rules in your chart.
The South Node, the Tail of the Dragon, moves into Scorpio for the next 18 months. Contrary to the North Node, at the South Node, the Moon starts to decrease in latitude and is hovering much lower in the sky than it usually does. The South Node represents decrease and release in the house Scorpio rules in your chart. We’re releasing what Mars represents, as the ruler of Scorpio. Think about Scorpio as a sign, it is Fixed Water. When water is stagnant, its emotions and our reception to our environment that feels stuck or set in place. When it’s ruled by Mars, this deals with emotional pain and trauma. Pain that runs deep, that stings, and hurts deeper parts of our emotional existence. In Scorpio, this is the opposite sign of the Moon’s Depression, a state where it is being pushed down and repressed. The growth and satisfaction of the Moon in Taurus turns into decay and death in Scorpio, the cycle of life. I think of the South Node as a water filter; the goal of the filter is to filter out all of the toxins and bad chemicals to purify the water. This is the South Node’s objective, to purify through release. Think about how you’ve experienced pain or have been malnourished in the house Scorpio rules in your chart. You’ll experience some loss in this part of your chart, but anything that is removed from you is meant to take you out of an environment that has not been suitable for processing pain and trauma. You’ll experience culminations within this house on May 16th with the Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio and then new beginnings on Oct 25th, 2022 with the Solar Eclipse in Scorpio. We’re releasing a lot of pain that has been accumulated as a result of the pandemic. We will see a need to get deeper in touch with transmuting pain into wisdom, getting deeper into touch with spirituality and the occult, and finding ourselves taking out the trash in this part of our chart. It’s going to be a period of healing and purification, but again this is not going to be easy, because it requires us to let go and release the stagnancy of the fixed sign Scorpio.
This Taurus/Scorpio Nodal Cycle will last from Jan 18th, 2022 to July 17th, 2023.
Here are the dates of all the Eclipses within these signs during this time period:
Nov 19th, 2021: Lunar Eclipse at 27º14’ Taurus
April 30th, 2022: Solar Eclipse at 10º28’ Taurus
May 16th, 2022: Lunar Eclipse at 25º17’ Scorpio
Oct 25th, 2022: Solar Eclipse at 02º00’ Scorpio
Nov 8th, 2022: Lunar Eclipse at 16º00’ Taurus
May 5th, 2023: Lunar Eclipse at 14º58’ Scorpio
Oct 28th, 2023: Lunar Eclipse at 05º09’ Taurus
Wednesday Jan 19th
(2:18 AM ET) Moon in Leo opposes Saturn at 13º58’ Aquarius
(9:39 PM ET) INGRESS: Sun enters Aquarius
As we transition into Wednesday, we get the Moon opposing Saturn in Aquarius, which can bring some somberness, delays, and restrictions. There are issues with rejection, stagnation, and feeling as if we cannot express ourselves or when we do so, we feel rejected. The Moon applying to Saturn will always bring delays and bring down the mood for the day, but don’t let this dim your flame. When we deal with rejection, we tend to internalize it and feel as if other people’s opinions reflect the truth of our negative self-talk, that we are not good enough, we are not worthy enough, and that there must be something inherently wrong with who we are. It is very easy to lean into this especially as the Sun enters Aquarius today. The Moon is in the Sun’s sign, Leo, and this ingress is especially highlighted. When the Sun enters into Aquarius, it enters the sign of its Detriment (other terms, Exile or Antithesis) which refers to a planet being in the opposite sign that it rules (Leo, the Sun’s home, opposes Aquarius, where the Sun is exiled). The Sun is our Spirit and our consciousness, it rules our ability to perceive, our sense of self, and confidence. When the Sun is in exile, we find ourselves in a position of not feeling confident, feeling self-conscious, and in a position where we don’t know something. The Sun deals with the self and the authority of ourselves to be ourselves, but in Aquarius we find that our actions and decisions are not motivated by ourselves, but by our environment and adhering to the rules and restrictions around us. The Sun doesn’t like to be in Air Signs, finding its Depression in Libra and exile in Aquarius. This speaks to the fact that identity is no longer informed by one’s own needs or desires, but by considering the impact our decisions have on others. This is a time period where we will have to take a less self-centered approach to decision-making and collaborate with the people around us. As they always say to Leos and Solar ruled people, the world doesn’t revolve around you, and the Moon’s opposition to Saturn highlights this theme on Wednesday. Act with deliberation and consider the consequences of your actions, and if you don’t know what to do, or are lost in indecision, ask for help. The Sun in Air signs can be prone to overthinking and indecision so be mindful of this for the next month as you’re going about your days.
Thursday Jan 20th
(3:15 AM ET) Moon in Leo trine Mars at 26º57’ Sagittarius
VOID MOON: 3:15 AM to 9:02 AM ET
(9:02 AM ET) INGRESS: Moon enters Virgo
(5:58 PM ET) Moon in Virgo opposes Jupiter at 04º43’ Pisces
On Thursday, things take a different turn as the Moon makes a harmonious trine to Mars. After feeling stuck and stagnant, not knowing what to do, we become ignited with purpose on Thursday with two planets in Fire Signs coming together. Fire ignites, creates heat, and gives us an outlet to express ourselves. Since the Moon is waning, and losing light, it represents a release, so we may find a way to release our frustration or anger that built up on Wednesday. Mars shows us a way forward, even if it’s temporary, get the build-up energy out of your body and transmute it into action aligned with purpose. The Moon then enters Virgo, a Mutable Earth Sign, slowing down the pace of things, keeping the dryness and fricative nature of Tuesday and Wednesday, but grounds us and asks us to make changes and take action utilizing the skills we know we have. The Moon enters Mercury’s sign, while Mercury is Retrograde, highlighting what needs to be changed and reviewed. It’s time to look deeper and with a more critical eye, but to not lose faith or compassion. The Moon makes an opposition to Jupiter, which really helps to cool us down after the dryness of the Fire Moon. We find an opportunity to be more fluid and accepting of what we may usually be critical of, and allow room for forgiveness and trust. Jupiter helps us to take all the fragmented parts of our minds and utilize faith, trust, and compassion to bind them all together.
Friday Jan 21st
(5:28 AM ET) Moon in Virgo trine Uranus at 10º49’ Taurus
(8:18 AM ET) Moon in Virgo trine Venus Retrograde at 12º20’ Capricorn
Friday is a lot sweeter, and after the angstiness of the week, the Moon makes a beautiful trine to Venus. Venus is actually stationary by this time period, and is getting ready to station direct next week on Saturday Jan 29th. We finally get an opportunity to integrate and make changes to what we want our material satisfaction to look like. Earth signs deal with physical and material needs, and with Venus there’s a desire to find comfort, nourishment, and reaping the rewards of what we’ve sewed. The Moon is technically enclosed by benefics from the moment it enters Virgo to this point where it trines Venus, and it allows us to indulge in our physical needs and tap into what makes us feel secure and protected. Venus is shining BRIGHT as a Morning Star by this time period, and will be visible just before sunrise, ushering in active restoration of balance and equilibrium to the house in our chart Capricorn is ruled by. It’s a great day for love, connection, making agreements, and feeling understood and connected to those that love, appreciate, and want the best for us.
Saturday Jan 22nd
(12:43 AM ET) Moon in Virgo opposes Neptune at 21º08’ Pisces
(10:52 AM ET) Moon in Virgo trine Pluto at 26º38’ Capricorn
(2:45 PM ET) Moon in Virgo square Mars at 28º45’ Sagittarius
(5:02 PM ET) INGRESS: Moon enters Libra
(10:42 PM ET) Moon in Libra trine the Sun at 03º05’ Aquarius
(11:47 PM ET) Moon in Libra trine Mercury Retrograde at 03º41’ Aquarius
The Moon will still be in Virgo until Saturday, but before it leaves, it makes a square to Mars, which can induce conflict, violence, fights, arguments and battles over what is right and what is wrong. Earth and Fire being activated brings a lot of friction into Saturday. With Sagittarius, there’s a desire for the expression and sharing of one’s ideas or beliefs, but Mars here does it in a way that rubs others the wrong way and poses as self-righteousness and arrogance. If you’re going to argue, make sure you come with the facts and you know what you’re talking about. The Moon will then enter into Libra, which highlights communication, connectivity, and relationships with others, giving us another moment to keep our cool, since the Moon will make a trine to the Sun in Aquarius. The Sun is heavily emphasized in the sky now, not because it is strengthened, but because the signs of the Sun’s debilitation are highlighted, Libra and Aquarius. We may find ourselves deliberating and bouncing back and forth between choices and options, unwavering indecision, and a fleeting sense of understanding what is we want. The Moon also makes a trine to Mercury Retorgrade, who is about to conjoin the Sun tomorrow, making this a chatty day in the end. We find ourselves in conflict of information and truth earlier in the day, but then arriving with news of resolution and peace towards the end. Some may receive news about relationships.
Sunday Jan 23rd
(5:28 AM ET) SYNODIC CYCLE: Mercury Cazimi (Interior Conjunction) at 03º23’ Aquarius
(2:21 PM ET) Moon in Libra square Venus Retrograde at 11º42’ Capricorn
(7:25 PM ET) Moon in Libra trine Saturn at 14º31’ Aquarius
On Sunday, Mercury enters into the Heart of the Sun, making this the halfway point in Mercury’s Retrograde cycle. This can be a moment of clarity or realization that comes in. You’ll find this moment of clarity in the house that Aquarius rules in your chart as a result of the revisions Mercury has been making through this house– we understand what it’s all for. As the Moon makes a square to Venus, relationships and connections become highlighted for the day, which brings a motivation towards achieving balance, peace, and equilibrium. The Moon applying to its ruler is beautiful for Sunday, giving us an opportunity really take initiative towards restoring that balance. Remember Venus is a Morning Star and brings in the dawn of day and is more active and action-oriented. Ending the day, the Moon makes a trine to Saturn, which is great for making commitments, solidifying a connection or relationship, legal bindings, and agreements to the forefront of our mind. Saturn gives our relationships and agreements form and structure for them to exist with stability and peace. Libra works with Aquarius since Saturn’s influence is heavy in these signs. Saturn is exalted in Libra and is at home in Aquarius.
