Introduction
Welcome everyone to the First Week of 2022! We can officially say that 2022 is put in the PAST. Moving forward into this week, we have Jupiter fully in Pisces, emerging from a New Moon on Sunday and Mercury entering Aquarius, and this week we find that the new year starts off with a lot of momentum. On top of this, it is our final week with Venus visible at sunset as an Evening Star until November 21st, 2022. Additionally, as Venus enters the Sun’s Beams, Mercury makes its debut in the Evening Sky as an Evening Star. If you can on Monday, go out and see the two in the sky, because Venus will not be visible in the sky again after Jan 4th!
On top of this, as Venus enters into the Sun’s Beams for the week, she eventually enters the Heart of the Sun at the end of the week on Jan 8th. It marks the halfway point in this Venus Retrograde cycle ongoing since Dec 19th. Congratulations, we’re halfway there! Let’s get into the week now and see what to expect given this overtone of transits!
Monday Jan 3rd
(2:51 AM ET) Moon in Capricorn sextile Neptune at 20º42’ Pisces
(4:58 AM ET) Moon conjoins Venus Retrograde at 22º02’ Capricorn
(11:20 AM ET) Moon conjoins Pluto at 26º01’ Capricorn
VOID MOON: 4:58 AM ET to 5:43 PM ET, 12 hours 45 minutes
(5:43 PM ET) INGRESS: Moon enters Aquarius
(9:36 PM ET) Moon conjoins Mercury at 02º24’ Aquarius
–
We start off the week with the Moon in Capricorn, making conjunctions to Venus and to Pluto. Venus and Pluto have separated from their conjunction that took place on December 25th, and this will be the first time the Moon passes over those degrees since then. The Moon in Capricorn highlights longer cycles of emotion and pain that are played out in a paradigmatic cycle in our lives. The Moon moves faster in Cancer and is much quicker, however in Capricorn, the Moon is in Detriment and in the slow terrain of Saturn, being dignified by Triplicity, the Moon has support to break longer patterns of behavior and relationship trauma and gives us an opportunity to heal. The Moon will then go void for a good portion of the day, enter Aquarius and conjoin Mercury. Expect some news to be coming your way about some delays, blockages, detours, work, or a change of plans. The Moon is highlighting and bringing out the significations of Mercury, who is getting ready to station Retrograde next week on January 14th. Mercury is getting slower in the sky now, and even though we may want to speed up with Mercury and the Moon, Saturn is going to tell us to slow down.
Tuesday Jan 4th
(11:24 AM ET) Moon in Aquarius square Uranus at 10º54’ Taurus
(1:43 PM ET) Moon conjoins Saturn at 12º19’ Aquarius
(7:44 PM ET) Moon in Aquarius sextile Mars at 15º58’ Sagittarius
VOID MOON: 7:44 PM ET to 7:16 PM ET, 23 hours 22 minutes
–
When we enter into Tuesday, this theme of delays and blockages carries through into the majority of this day. The Moon squares Uranus and transfers that light to Saturn, giving us an unexpected turn of events. We may find ourselves being disrupted during that transit from our routines and experiencing slowness throughout the day. The Moon then applies to Mars, which helps to speed things up and help us push through some of these obstacles temporarily, however the Moon only aspecting malefics for the day might make this somewhat of an annoying transit. These challenges can arise from not seeing your plans far enough into the future. Mars in Sagittarius says this is a marathon, not a sprint. This will be the first time the Moon is in Aquarius since Jupiter entered Pisces. We don’t get this some sort of relief that we are used to getting with Fixed Moons highlighting heaviness and then an opportunity for support. Think long term with your plans, not in the short term.
Wednesday Jan 5th
(11:03 AM ET) Venus Retrograde in Capricorn sextile Neptune at 20º45’ Pisces
(7:16 PM ET) INGRESS: Moon enters Pisces
(9:57 PM ET) Moon conjoins Jupiter at 01º34’ Pisces
–
On Wednesday, the Moon will be running through the void for the majority of the day until it enters Pisces. Venus will also sextile Neptune for a 2nd time, out of 3. I want everyone to dream and use their imagination during this time period. Immerse yourself in the world of imagining what fulfilment looks like for you in the House Pisces rules in your chart. The Moon conjoining to Jupiter gives Wednesday a much more bouyant tone, but it also highlights the ways in which we feel like the dreams we have are dreams we have had to repress, and neglect. The Moon will be void for a good majority of the day, so it would be best to rest, and then once the Moon enters Pisces towards the later part of the day, take this time to dream. Indulge in what brings you satisfaction. How can we find deeper truth and meaning to fix any chronic issues that have been ongoing in the Capricorn part of our chart? We get an opportunity through our Pisces part of our chart to alleviate the Capricorn part of our chart. Expect tears, expect emotional release, and expect breakthroughs. I don’t label them as breakdowns, because you’re not breaking down. You’re breaking through barrier and obstacles and letting the floodgates of emotion pour out. Find a space and friends that inspire you from the inside out.
Thursday Jan 6th
(2:04 PM ET) Moon in Pisces sextile Uranus at 10º52’ Taurus
–
As we head into Thursday, it is generally a chill day. The Moon is technically void for a good 24ish hours because it won’t apply to any visible planets (Uranus is not visible in the sky right now). Take it to rest, take it to find peace, and carry over those themes from Wednesday into today and take time to reflect and process. Give yourself space. Jupiter takes up space, and in Pisces, emotions are deep and complex. Find your space and outlets to where you can express yourself and search inside yourself for what barriers need to be cleared in order to move into this state of finding meaning and truth that is authentic to what you desire.
Friday Jan 7th
(12:40 AM ET) Moon in Pisces sextile the Sun at 16º53’ Capricorn
(1:54 AM ET) Moon in Pisces square Mars at 17º34’ Sagittarius
(5:41 AM ET) Moon in Pisces sextile Venus at 19º41’ Capricorn
(7:39 AM ET) Moon conjoins Neptune at 20º47’ Pisces
(5:23 PM ET) Moon in Pisces sextile Pluto at 26º09’ Capricorn
VOID MOON: 5:41 AM ET to 12:25 AM ET, 30 hours 44 minutes
–
When we move into Friday, the Moon will come to sextile the Sun, opening the events of new lunation cycle that will eventually culminate into the events of the Full Moon in Cancer. After that, the Moon will apply to a square to Mars, creating tension and arguments over truth and deception. Mars is in the overcoming position in Sagittarius to Pisces (overcoming= Sag is earlier in Zodiacal Order), which makes us acutely aware of any frustration and challenges. Be wary of misunderstandings because a common theme from Mars transits is fighting, conflict, friction, and disagreement. Mars in Sagittarius can tend to go on a crusade of declaring righteousness in one’s truth or perspective, but the beauty of the Jupiterian signs is that truth is subjective. It will feel like a tense day, and especially with Lunar transits, we feel this in the body. With Mars, we find things heating up and getting inflamed. Mars transits dries things out with its heat, and with the Moon, so make sure to moisturize, drink water, and don’t ignore your physical needs.
Saturday Jan 8th
(12:25 AM ET) INGRESS: Moon enters Aries
(2:36 PM ET) Moon in Aries sextile Mercury at 07º37’ Aquarius
(7:47 PM ET) SYNODIC CYCLE: Venus Cazimi at 18º43’ Capricorn
–
The Moon will first enter Aries and then sextile Mercury. It is a day of getting news, making revisions, and understanding what we need to put into motion through action that we reviewed during the Pisces Moon. In addition, Venus conjoins the Sun.
This Venus Retrograde in Capricorn is restoring balance and harmony to the topics of the House that Capricorn rules in your chart. From 2017-2020, you may have felt a heaviness in this part of your chart reflected in the events in your life, but now is an opportunity for healing. In 2017-2020 Saturn was in the sign of Capricorn. Saturn gives us a perspective of the foundational issues in this part of our chart, and what needs to be reformed. This process of restoring balance is taking place during this Venus Retrograde.
Venus conjoins the Sun in an aspect known as a Cazimi (translating to ‘in the heart’) where the planet enters into the Sun’s Beams starts a new cycle. For Mercury and Venus Retrogrades, the Cazimi marks the halfway point in this cycle. This halfway point is important because before Venus (and Mercury) stations Retrograde they are visible as Evening Star at sunset. When Venus goes Retrograde, she’s moving *into* the sun’s beams as an Evening Star, being symbolic of something ending, since Venus is invisible in the sky. During the Cazimi, the Venus changes phases and moves *away* from the Sun’s Beams and becomes a Morning Star. In this Morning Star phase, this planet will only be seen before sunrise. This planet is reborn and adapts a more youthful and rejuvenated in its expression, eager and ready to put its significations into effect.
With Venus in Capricorn, there’s an eagerness to bring balance to the house that Capricorn rules in our chart, but January 8th marks this halfway moment where whatever changes we need to make are realized because Venus conjoins the Sun which is our consciousness. And as a result, Venus’ revisions and changes that need to be made become pushed to the forefront of our consciousness, and as Venus moves towards the other side of the Sun, Venus is ready for those changes to be made. While in the evening star phase, we become aware of what is phasing out of our lives, and we become aware of what cannot move forward with us, since the planet goes Retrograde. Then at the Cazimi, we find the path to move forward.
The difference between Venus and Saturn moving through Capricorn is interesting because Saturn in Capricorn from 2017-2020 brought in Coldness (constriction) and Dryness (friction and brittleness), and as a malefic, Saturn takes these qualities to extremes. Whereas Venus brings in Coldness and Wetness. While we are aware of our constraints and where we need to look inward, we are aware of how we can give more fluidity (moisture, Wetness) to what has been rigid or abrasive in our experience of this house in the past. Venus was in its Cold phase before the Retrograde, is currently moving towards its Dry phase while Retrograde, as Venus enters into the Sun’s Beams on Jan 4th. From Jan 4th until Jan 13th, Venus will be in the Sun’s Beams and invisible in the sky. Once Venus emerges as Morning Star on Jan 13th, Venus will be moving toward her Wet Phase, where she will be able to restore this moisture that I mentioned above. It’s like giving water to a dead plant or an undernourished planet. Quenching our thirst after a long drought.
In Capricorn, we deal with the issues of Mars and Saturn, which talks about the effort and labor that is required to lay a foundation. Mars being supported here is the virtue of passion inspiring action, and Saturn shows us what limits are set for us that we must overcome. The Moon’s Antithesis (Detriment) in Capricorn highlights the ways we feel like a dead plant, undernourished, deprived, and what parts of ourselves have been neglected and ignored. Jupiter’s Depression in Capricorn shows us what happens when we are told to give up and neglect our dreams. As this leads us into the beginning of this week with a New Moon as Venus gets ready to set into the Beams, we find a seed that CAN grow. We have an opportunity to plant a seed that will grow into a forest in the field of the ghost of our past desires. Capricorn has a reputation in the ancient tradition for bringing up things of the past, that is ancient, old, and buried. There is secrecy to Capricorn. Venus here talks about secret and hidden desires and passion we need to fuel. With Venus Retrograding through Capricorn, we’re working through the past. What desires did we suppress when we were put in times of scarcity & survival? Where did we lose our joy due to the damage of societal structures in our lives? How do we give ourselves permission to reignite those passions in times where we need our work and effort to be fueled by joy? Capricorn talks about effort & the active labor that is required to accomplish anything. That labor and effort is allocated towards fusing joy, purpose, and action together.
Sunday Jan 9th
(12:26 AM ET) Moon in Aries sextile Saturn at 12º48’ Aquarius
(11:00 AM ET) Moon in Aries square Venus Retrograde at 18º19’ Capricorn
(12:57 PM ET) Moon in Aries trine Mars at 19º20’ Sagittarius
(1:11 PM ET) Moon in Aries square the Sun at 19º27’ Aries
–
After our Cazimi on Saturday, Sunday the Moon will sextile Saturn, square Venus, trine Mars, and square the Sun. When the Moon squares Venus Cazimi, while in Aries, adding a bit of spice to our day. It’s a day of inspiration, taking action, and it’s another pivotal moment in this lunation cycle, because the Moon squares the Sun, bringing it to its 1st Quarter Phase. After receiving this news from Mercury, the Moon, and Venus’ Cazimi, the Moon in Aries asks: what are you gonna do about it? With the Moon making a trine to its ruler, Mars in Sagittarius, our actions are inspired by our faith, belief, in ourselves. I’m finding myself a little short on words for this day, and I’m interpreting this as “stop talking, more doing” from Mars. Tap into where you derive strength from, and what inspires your inner strength to overcome obstacles? You’ll need it to get through the day. There may be some challenges with authority figured and our will where we find ourselves held back. However, to climb a mountain, you have to start somewhere. Mercury is getting ready to station Retrograde though, so if you need a change of plans that fall in better alignment with your goals, give yourself that space to make room for change.
