The Full Moon in Leo culminates at the end of the week right after Venus and Mars square off in Pisces/Gemini.
The Week Ahead
This week in the astrology brings the Full Moon in bright, dazzling, Leo at the end of the week. The Moon reaching full brightness brings certain topics and themes to a climax in the house that Leo rules in your chart. This Full Moon brings visibility, prominence, and luminance affirming our actions and intentions started during the New Moon on January 20th. As we move through the week, Venus and Mars will be getting close towards an exact square on Saturday. This Full Moon gives us a lot to look at going into February 2023.
Monday Jan 30th
[3:34 AM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Gemini
[12:23 PM ET] The Moon in Gemini square Venus at 04º30’ Pisces
[3:01 PM ET] The Moon in Gemini sextile Jupiter at 05º05’ Aries
[11:26 PM ET] The Moon conjoins Mars at 10º06’ Gemini
On Monday, the Moon will enter Gemini moving into a Mutable-Air sign ruled by Mercury. The Moon enters into chatty territory and encourages us to speak, stimulate our mind, and enter into the wonders of Mercurial contradictions, debate, and exchange of ideas. The Moon will be highlighting a major aspect on Monday that lasts throughout the entire week, and thats the Venus/Mars square. The Moon enters into mutable territory to build the growing tension between these two planets. Mercury and Gemini are omens that are concerned with news, journalist, scholars, learning, education, messages, and forms of communication. The Moon will be moving towards a conjunction to Mars throughout the entire day, which shows increased aggression, frustration, and irritation admist the support we might get throughout the day. The Moon does connect with benefic planets today, both Venus and Jupiter, which help to ameliorate some of the frustration Mars can bring, but a conjunction is more powerful since it is the meeting between two planets. This will be the first time the Moon and Mars have made a conjunction since Mars is direct, so this is an important connection. Typically the Moon with Mars in Gemini over the past few months have brought an increased in verbal conflict, harsh language + words, outburst, rage, and anger, but this time there is more consistency and affirmation for where we feel we need to severe ties, cut off access, and end partnerships/relationships. The Moon with Mars in Gemini can also produce gossip, whispers, debates, confrontational, and at worst antagonizing language that agitates and riles people up. Conflict is the theme for the day, whether the conflict be external or internal. Gemini is a sign that talks about the mind, and when the Moon is here, our minds wavers and is in agony with the presence of a malefic planet.
However, the Moon will make a square to Venus and a sextile to Jupiter first today. So things do actually start off quite nice. Venus has the ability to provide us with laughter, softness, ease, and smoothness within social settings, and an enclosure between the benefics for the Moon looks like protection from friends and allies, since the Moon will sextile Jupiter who is from the 11th position. The things Ive noticed about the Gemini Moons is that the mood can really flip throughout the day in instances like this. The first part of the day is strong, really supportive, and encouraging but then there is some agitating information that we encounter that provokes conflict. The Moon is doing a lot on her day, and this growing tension between Venus and Mars shows issues of relationships, partnerships, unity and division, separation, and conflict.
Tuesday Jan 31st
[1:24 AM ET] The Moon in Gemini trine the Sun at 11º05’ Aquarius
On Tuesday, the Moon will be separating from a conjunction to Mars and immediately afterwards applying to a trine with the Sun. This configuration highlights the Sun and Mars trining each other in Aquarius & Gemini on Sunday Jan 29th. Whenever the Sun trines a planet, it causes it to station Direct, but with it also bestows leadership, insight, clarity, and inspires action. Where there might have been delays over the past 3 months in the house Gemini rules in your chart, influences and changes going on in the house Aquarius rule in your chart allow for more action, initiation, and decision making to take place. Revelations and insights about certain reasons for delays, people or enemies trying to thwart your actions might become realized today since any time the Sun and Moon are in a trine, they bring clarity of knowledge and illuminate what is in the dark. The planet having the spotlight shined on it is Mars. Today is generally more positive since the only aspect the Moon will make is to the Sun, and anytime the luminaries are in agreement it is positive. In the Air Signs, there is lots of communication, learning, education, and absorbing knowledge that is going on. Unfortunately the Moon is not going to contact its domicile lord in this sign, so even though the Moon is seeking or trying to make sense of certain documents, news, and information throughout the week, she is unable to obtain it. Mercury provides the resource to the Moon, and Mercury is hiding in secret in Capricorn, withholding information, knowing secrets, and strategizing in their head. We may find we have to change our fixed perceptions or beliefs as incoming news comes our way. The Sun is in a Fixed Air sign representing the stubbornness of perspective and viewpoint, while the Moon in a Mutable Air sign brings wavering currents of air, changing directions, and fluctuations to our ideas. We may feel a little anxious since the Sun is typically a planet who bestows confidence, but in exile, it can produce inhibition and not feeling confident in our actions. Trouble navigating increased social tension and trying to “remain cool” is the vibe.
Wednesday Feb 1st
[6:58 AM ET] The Moon in Gemini trine Saturn at 25º54’ Aquarius
[3:11 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Cancer
The Moon will make a trine to Saturn in Aquarius on Wednesday morning ET, and this brings an interesting development of events for the Moon in Gemini. The Moon was moving from a trine to the Sun over to a trine to Saturn. Saturn makes the mood more serious grounded in the morning. Where we found our mind inflames, wavering, and uneasy over the beginning of the week, when the Moon trines Saturn we find some mental grounding and stillness. This trine highlights the Sun/Saturn conjunction that goes exact in the middle of February. Saturn is much dimmer in the sky right now and its setting symbolizes something coming to an end in the house Aquarius rules in your chart. New circumstances start to be put into play as Saturn moves further into the part of Aquarius it has not crossed yet. Saturn moving onward in the zodiac has never been in this part of Aquarius in this 3 year run, so new developments that are in the form of endings and closure are introduced. We can find support from elders, older folk, ancient knowledge, the past, the dead, and ancestors tomorrow to help us out with our dilemmas.
Towards the middle part of the day, the Moon will move into Cancer where she finally finds more security, safety, and nourishment after a chaotic transit through Gemini. This will bring a soothing energy that makes us want to relax and unwind for the rest of the day. Tending to self care and nourishment is important for today. A key signification of the Moon is sleep and rest. These things nourish our body, give us deep relaxation, and vitality. The Moon will be moving towards a trine to Venus all night that will perfect early in the morning on Thursday, and this is definitely on of the more beautiful and sweet spots in the week. The Moon and Venus are both planets that share omens of intimacy, comfort, trust, vulnerability and they’re both placed in positions of strength, lending support to each other through the trine aspect. This is great for love, relationships, romance, artistic and creative pursuits, as well as indulging in your pleasures and things that bring you comfort.
Thursday Feb 2nd
[3:54 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer square Jupiter at 06º18’ Aries
[7:14 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer trine Venus at 07º57’ Pisces
Thursday is one of the best days of the week, honestly. The Moon is at home in Cancer, bringing trust, comfort, being in tune with our emotions and feelings. The Moon being strengthened and provided with resources to be able to experience relaxation today is great. The Moon will make a square to Jupiter in Aries who overcomes it, providing trust, honesty, faith, and a burst of action, initiation, and leadership. The Moon will be enclosed between both benefics for a few hours as the Moon will then make a trine to Venus which brings unity, harmony, balance in relationships, inclusiveness, acceptance, and affirmation of trust. This is an indicator of success, achievement, justice, peace, balance, and harmony that is achieved after contention and competition with the Moon in Gemini. This particular trine is really good for reaching out to people if you’re trying to find your new valentines day date. Venus brings a smoothness to our relationships and encourages us to pour our hearts out and express the emotions and passions from the depths within. Tell your crush you like them, go out and flirt with the stranger from across the room, let the music take control and move your body from the inside out. The Moon in Cancer with Venus in Pisces says get your groove on and go dancing. Feel your body and nourish it. This is a good time to get started on a creative project, whether it be poetry, writing music, creating a new piece, or singing your heart out— this is the time to do it. This energy will last throughout the entire day since the Moon will not connect with any other planets for the rest of the day. The Moon and Venus provide their blessings to us today.
Friday Feb 3rd
[7:09 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer opposes Mercury at 19º47’ Capricorn
On Friday, the Moon will be separating from a trine to Venus in Pisces and up until this morning makes an opposition to Mercury in Capricorn. We may feel encouraged to communicate more, whether it be through speaking, talking, or writing. This is a good day to get any paperwork done, sending out important messages, letters, and documents. If you’re trying to do some studying and are wanting to learn more information today is also a great day to do so. Oppositions can bring some stress and conflict, so Mercury in opposition can show mental stress, feeling pulled in two directions, and feeling scattered. Whereas Mercury in Capricorn wants real, grounded, information, the Moon in Cancer gives us the opportunity to talk about our feelings, emotions, and bring some fluidity to our communication style. The Moon will not make any other aspects for today or while it is in the sign, so it is an omen to take it easy and give yourself time to relax/rest.
Saturday Feb 4th
[3:48 AM ET] INGRESS: The Moon has entered Leo
[5:33 PM ET] The Moon in Leo trine Jupiter at 06º48’ Aries
[10:28 PM ET] Venus in Pisces squares Mars at 11º14’ Gemini
Going into the weekend, the Moon will enter Leo which begins the series of Full Moon events. The Moon moves into the Fixed Fire sign which shows a stabilization of energy, vitality, and spirit inside of us. Leo is a sign of confidence, leadership, and authority but there are some issues we find with these topics in our lives right now since the ruler of the Moon, the Sun, is currently exiled in Aquarius and is not able to support ourselves with confidence to feel assured and affirmed in the action we need to take. In one sense, we may feel caught in contemplation and frozen in overthinking, but today Jupiter makes a trine to the Moon, which offers some support to take action, initiative, and shine your light. A trine to Jupiter offers support, friendship, assistance, optimism, and encouragement.
Venus makes an exact square to Mars today. This tension between unity and bringing people together and tearing people apart comes to a climax today. Venus and Mars have been in hard aspects with each other for the past few months: at the opposition on Dec 1st, 2022; at the square on September 16th, 2022; and at the conjunction on Feb 16th and March 6th, 2022. This square brings a much larger cycle to a close, and where Venus, the symbol of justice, beauty, unity, and relationships has had lots of struggles in the past: she gets the upper hand this time around. She is exalted in Pisces, where themes of compassion, unity, and inclusivity overpower the divisive nature of Mars’ tongue in Gemini. We see a moment of consequences for conflict around justice and breaking oaths, violating agreements, and transgressing boundaries, and justice is served. Venus is a planet of beauty and justice, but to the ancient astrologers, these concepts were not disconnected because justice IS beautiful, it is celebrated, and Venus has inherit significations of justice tied to war as much as Mars does. Venus shows fights that are fought to establish justice and harmony, whereas Mars shows fights that are fought to create division and encourage enmity between others. Venus is the unifier who brings people together, whereas Mars is the spear that splits them apart. This aspect going exact as the Full Moon builds shows an important tension + climax in relationships that becomes highlighted.
Sunday Feb 5th
[2:35 AM ET] The Moon in Leo sextile Mars at 11º16’ Gemini
[1:28 PM ET] LUNATION: Full Moon at 16º40’ Leo
On Sunday, the Moon makes a sextile to Mars in Gemini, which brings more energy, spurs action, and brings out the impulsive side of us during the day. A sextile to Mars is like striking a match and creating fire, adding some friction and heat to the situations in our day. Full Moons represent a full climax and release of energy in the house that Leo rules in your chart. Leo as a sign talks about what we need to feel seen, affirmed, and recognized since the Sun shines light that illuminates the darkness. The Moon in Leo ruled by the Sun in Aquarius shows issues and challenges with leadership since the Sun is exiled in Aquarius. The Moon is able to push more confidence and bold action over to the Sun who is lacking in that energy due to Saturn. This Full Moon feels a lot more serious in nature due to the opposition of the Moon to Saturn. It encourages us to set boundaries, create blockages, and our disposition is more cautious even though the lion inside of us wants to roar. Expressing yourself and hiding yourself are both issues Leo and Aquarius deal with. Leo deals with self expression and shining your light, whereas Aquarius shows conformity to the rules, standards, and what is orthodox. The Sun in Aquarius shows us the way in which our identity and luminance is stifled by certain rules, regulations, and restrictions. The Sun and Saturn are getting closer together and this Full Moon which represents something being brought to a close in the house Aquarius rules in your chart. The Sun and Saturn come together to establish new rules, new limits, and new regulations that inhibit the expression of the Sun as leadership, identity, ego, confidence, and authority. This Full Moon highlights the disappearance of Saturn in the sky since the Sun is within 10º of Saturn since the Sun will conjoin Saturday on February 16th, 2023. When a planet enters the beams of the Sun, it signifies matters becoming hidden and secret. Saturn ending its cycle represents the weakening of infrastructure, sense of stability, and endurance. The Full Moon highlights this axis in our chart where we may be loosing endurance or longevity. The Full Moon shows some hard truths about rejection, blockages, endings, and closure. This is a great time to end long term habits and long term issues since Saturn is closing its cycle.
