Week 49: December 2022 Week 2, The Week Ahead Horoscope
The Full Moon in Gemini takes place this week, along with Mercury and Venus changing signs. It is definitely a climax to remember.
Introduction
Monday, Dec 5th
[12:37 PM ET] The Moon conjoins Uranus Retrograde at 15º52’ Taurus
[8:53 PM ET] The Moon in Taurus square Saturn at 20º11’ Aquarius
Monday starts off quite rough as the Moon will be in her exaltation, somewhat void since she’s been in Taurus since yesterday and hasn’t connected with any planets. The Moon in Taurus can bring a more relaxing but lethargic feeling for Monday and Tuesday. It’s also the first time the Moon has come back here since the Eclipse on 11/8. The relationship we have to caring for ourselves, our bodies, and tapping into how we feel, and specifically where our energy feels drained. The Moon will connect with Saturn through a square today, which puts more pressure and stress upon our bodies. I took a cleansing bath last night with epsom salt, and it got me thinking about the last time I deeply touched and massaged my entire body. Touch is an important signification the Moon gets, and when she is exalted in Taurus, it allows us to get in touch with our bodies. Feel all the sores, the cramps, the stiffness, and the tension that Saturn is currently indicating. The Moon squaring Saturn can make us aware of limits, boundaries, and the extremes of our physical limits. Saturn is where we find the extremes of everything, and with the Moon we feel physically worn out. Time to rest and relax. The Moon making this square to Saturn also brings into awareness infrastructure issues, challenges with authority, and feeling the pressure of Saturn weigh heavy on us. Take it easy for the rest of this Moon in Taurus transit.
Tuesday, Dec 6th
[2:05 AM ET] Mercury in Sagittarius square Jupiter at 29º03’ Pisces
[2:02 PM ET] The Moon in Taurus sextile Jupiter at 29º05’ Pisces
[3:48 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Gemini
[5:08 PM ET] INGRESS: Mercury enters Capricorn
On Tuesday, Mercury makes a square to Jupiter in Pisces which gives Mercury some alleviation from the stress that its transit through Sagittarius has brought. Not only this being the sign of Mercury’s exile, it also encountered a really harsh opposition to Mars Retrograde in Gemini, which inflamed our nervous system, brought heightened stress, and influences us more impulsive and irritable in the way we communicate. After feeling mentally burnt out and worn out, Mercury makes a square to its domicile lord, Jupiter which provides some alleviation, release, and compassion for the hardship Mercury has been through (its rough out here Gemini + Virgo Risings, I’m looking at you). This transit allows for some freedom, liberation, through understanding the truth and coming to terms with where we need to transition and create endings in our lives as Mercury wraps up its transit through this sign.
The Moon makes a sextile to Jupiter today which also brings in some support, compassion, understanding, and acceptance that is much needed after the harsh square from Saturn that took place yesterday. After this, the Moon and Mercury will both change signs: the Moon entering Gemini and Mercury entering Capricorn, which is very fitting since the Moon will be ruled by Mercury making this major shift.
This sets up new circumstances for the Full Moon in Gemini that takes place tomorrow night. Mercury is having a dignity change, which is always important, going from the sign of its exile, to going into an Earth Sign. Mercury tends to prefer to be in the Earth Signs, being able to tangibly apply knowledge to make material change. Mercury moving into the Earthy territory gives our minds a much more grounded, stable, and sturdy feel after we’ve had a lack of planets in Earth Signs. Mercury entering into this Earth Sign also means there is a tinge of dryness and monotonous expression that can be found here. The coldness of the Earth Signs brings a more reserved disposition. Saturn will be the ruler of Mercury this entire time, and Saturn offers Mercury more seriousness, contemplation, deliberation, and not revealing the thoughts Mercury has, whereas in Sagittarius Mercury shouts from the rooftops (in this case out of rage, frustration, and anger, because of the opposition to Mars). Mercury will actually be averse to both the malefics (Mars and Saturn) which will help to bring a brief moment of pause and the stress of our minds to ease off for the next 2 months. Granted, Mercury will actually station Retrograde in Capricorn on December 29th, but it will be co-present with the benefic planet Venus this entire time, and she is able to help out Mercury because she is in the sign of her triplicity. Venus often can act as a cooling agent for inflamed minds, pacifying situations, bringing sweetness, compromise, and support.
Wednesday, Dec 7th
[11:08 PM ET] LUNATION: Full Moon at 16º01’ Gemini
[11:18 PM ET] The Moon conjoins Mars Retrograde at 16º07’ Gemini
On Wednesday, the Full Moon in Gemini will go exact in the night and it definitely highlights the simmering anger, frustration, and conflict. This Mars Retrograde has been completely gnarly in every way possible, and this Full Moon brings all of it to a culmination. One of the big questions I’ve been pondering for this Full Moon is: what is your relationship to anger? What is anger? Well often times it is an alarm system the body is equipped with as a way to defend against external or internal perceived violence. This is ultimately what Mars also represents too. The malefics highlight ways in which we have been hurt, and the ways in which we experience pain. Mars is your fire drill in school that tells you there is something urgent to pay attention to. Mars is the burn you get from touching a hot stove or oven. Mars is here to let us know when we have moved passed or transgressed the limits that Saturn creates. Transgression of boundaries, limits, and restrictions are all martian in nature, and this Full Moon is a call to think about where the limits of your mind have been transgressed. Anger is a gateway towards understanding deeper pain and trauma. Unhealed or unaddressed trauma can feel like walking around with a splinter in your foot, and Mars as a planet is always good for addressing said trauma. The ways in which we respond or react with anger, frustration, and rage reveal deeper layers of pain inside of us, but anger itself is never the root of the issue. With Mars and the Moon linking up in Gemini, mental anguish is the phrase that comes to mind. Mental burnout, mentally scattered— Mars is making us lose our fucking minds. And rightfully so. There is a lot to be angry about right now. Mars is the planet that tells you “What are you going to do about your anger, about this pain, about the ways you feel hurt?”. Mars says you should protest. Often times protests are signified by Mars, challenging power, challenging orthodoxy, and challenging the status quo. The Mars/Saturn conjunction that took place earlier this year at 22º Aquarius on April 4th coincided with major protests and organizations of unions against the greed, corruption, and harm companies like Amazon and Starbucks have created through their working conditions, union busting efforts, and making it harder for workers to have a say and a voice in what labor practices are fair. Mars shows up as the anger and rage queer and trans people, kids and adults, feel across the country over book bans, homophobic and transphobic legislation, and the hateful ideology that is being spread amongst fascist not just in the US but outside as well too. Your anger is valid. What about the protests in Iran over the death of Mahsa Amini (rest in peace)? The housing instability, climate crisis, and looming recession that people are experiencing? The Full Moon calls for a protest, for action, and the need to do something to spur change. The Moon conjoining Mars is always a time where we see some potential injury or illness arise, and especially in Gemini, there is a lot going around right now (from COVID to the Flu, and other illnesses merging with each other) so make sure you’re protecting yourself because the malefics in Air signs indicate harm and challenges with wind + air. Issues with technology, social media, and the way we connect with each other also come to a climax as well too. The Moon is getting besieged throughout this Full Moon as it conjoins Mars, opposes the Sun, and trines Saturn: all malefic (extreme) influences are brought for this Full Moon. I am personally sending our my wishes and prayers to anyone who is getting beat up by this Mars Retrograde, and that this Full Moon gives you the strength to sever ties, cut people out of your life that are harmful and hurtful, and that it emboldens your heart to make necessary adjustments and changes that help bring more healing into your own life.
Stay safe tomorrow as well too, the astro weather definitely portends for open conflict, violence, and potential accidents (whether it be with other people, or it be on the road). Gemini is another sign of travel and technology so be weary of crazy drivers on the road. Cheating, lying, and transgressing boundaries are all highlighted. Verbal conflict, shouting, yelling, and screaming can also be heard. Whether it be the screams of your inner child, or of protestors demanding rights and fairness, things are thrown out of balance as Mars swings things out of equilibrium.
Thursday, Dec 8th
[12:41 AM ET] SYNODIC CYCLE: The Sun in Sagittarius opposes Mars Retrograde at 16º05’ Gemini
[7:41 AM ET] The Moon in Gemini trine Saturn at 20º21’ Aquarius
[12:12 PM ET] The Moon in Gemini square Neptune at 22º39’ Pisces
On Thursday, after the Full Moon, the Sun makes an opposition to Mars, and this is important because anytime a planet opposes the Sun, it signifies the halfway point in its synodic cycle. It is also at this point where the planet is the absolute brightest it can possibly be in the sky, and this time it is Mars who is shining bright and red up in the sky. It highlights major contention with false information, deceit, lies, slander and the Sun in Sagittarius highlights the pursuit of truth, honesty, faithfulness, and integrity counteracting these malevolent forces. Egos colliding is definitely the theme of this transit. The Moon is still calming down from being Full and now starts to lose light as it connects with Saturn in Aquarius through a trine. Whereas Mars accelerates action, Saturn restrains action, and inhibits it. It brings a lot more somberness, seriousness, and grave feelings into Thursday. However, the Moon being in a trine to Saturn can indicate we’re experiencing some advice, wisdom, or knowledge from old or ancient sources, elders, and old people. Saturn urges us to look at history, concrete information and facts. Matters dealing with government, authority, and rules are all brought to our focus today. Things can get somewhat confusing and disorientating after this trine because the Moon will square Neptune, so make sure to take it easy. The tension from the Full Moon still lingers.
Friday, Dec 9th
[12:28 AM ET] The Moon in Gemini opposes Venus at 28º49’ Sagittarius
[1:13 AM ET] The Moon in Gemini square Jupiter at 29º12’ Pisces
[2:48 AM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Cancer
[7:54 AM ET] Venus in Sagittarius square Jupiter at 29º13’ Pisces
[10:55 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer opposes Mercury at 04º03’ Capricorn
[10:54 PM ET] INGRESS: Venus enters Capricorn
On Friday, the Moon will find itself in a brief pocket of balm as it makes an opposition to Venus in Sagittarius and a square to Jupiter in Pisces, briefly enclosed between the benefic planets after being enclosed between the malefic planets during the Full Moon. The Moon opposing Venus can bring some support with feeling unbalanced, lethargic, and mentally worn out, and Jupiter offers some compassion, support, and an outlet to release your emotions. Truth seeking is what this day is defined by especially as Venus makes a square to Jupiter today too. Venus is able to obtain the truth, honesty, and find compassion within relationships as she connects with her domicile lord located in the sign of her exaltation. Jupiter offers us wisdom, alleviation of sorrow, honesty, and brings building and fortifying relationships to a culmination. Venus is able to encounter liberation, freedom, and collective support from Jupiter after spending the last month in their sign. Things have been rough for Venus since she also encountered an opposition from Mars too, which brought tension in matters of justice, fairness, and diplomacy. Venus will have a little bit of time to leave this stressed position in Sagittarius, and is also getting ready to exit the Sun’s Beams and make an appearance in the evening sky.
Today she finds a shift in conditions as she enters Capricorn, entering the same Earthy, Saturnian, environment that Mercury is located in. This brings some support for Venus since she actually has dignity by triplicity in all of the Earth Signs. Some ancient astrologers describe triplicity as a planet being amongst their friends and allies. Venus gains more support and strength to bring about the things she represents: beauty, joy, laughter, love, devotion, commitment, fairness, justice, and balance. In the earthy territory of Capricorn, Venus allows us to get more in touch with the sensual parts of our existence. Venus wants us to feel every part of our body. Touch all of our muscles. Feel our skin, activate our sense with smells and fragrance. In the Saturnian sign of Capricorn, Venus draws our attention to the slowness of relationships. Saturn is a planet of longevity, time, and Venus encounters a test of endurance. Venus wants us to think about long term partnerships and relationships as she enters this sign. What foundations need to be created in order for relationships to flourish and endure. One of the benefits of Saturn is that it creates endurance, and in Capricorn, Venus is motivated by these influences.
These shifts with Venus and Mercury come together as the Moon leaves Gemini and returns back home to Cancer, where they can find some sense of security, safety, and comfort after the extremely harsh encounters from the Full Moon. Finding the space to feel your emotions, for intimacy to thrive, and places you can call home are all at the forefront of our mind today. The Moon will make an opposition to Mercury in Capricorn, which pulls our brain in many directions, but the ultimate focus is to find some sense of grounding and security. Mercury and the Moon opposite are the two messengers fighting. Our brains might feel very scattered and all over the place as the Moon enters Capricorn, but it pulls us to communicate and reveal intimate parts of ourselves with others today. Mercury in Capricorn typically withholds information and knowledge, and the Moon brings revelations to that which is hidden in the secretive sign of Capricorn. Take this day to calm your mind, nourish your soul, and seek out the ways and spaces that bring you comfort, bring you calm, and put your mind at ease. The Moon makes that the focus going into the weekend as the will not connect with any planets until Sunday. Take this time to rest and relax. Doing nothing is okay. And I encourage you to take time to cool down and rest through the weekend.
Saturday, Dec 10th
Sunday, Dec 11th
[9:10 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer opposes Pluto at 27º03’ Capricorn
[1:49 PM ET] The Moon in Cancer trine Jupiter at 29º20’ Pisces
[3:08 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Leo
On Sunday, the Moon will make a trine to Jupiter in Pisces which brings some nice balm for the end of the week as the Moon in its domicile will connect with a benefic in its domicile. This is preparing us for the last days of Jupiter in Pisces and the Moon connecting with Jupiter, while Jupiter is in the overcoming position is the definition of a BEAUTIFUL configuration in the sky. The Moon in Cancer being this symbol of home, protection, nurturance, growth, life, body, and security is able to encounter Jupiter who provides compassion, acceptance, trust, faith, and honesty in our relationships. The two planets governing the two water signs allow us a healthy space to express our emotions, get in our feelings, and find support from friends, loved ones, and all those who want the best for us and to uplift our spirits. Some jovial optimism makes this Cancer Moon slow, tender, and nurturing. The Moon will then enter Leo by the end of the day, bringing more activity and action into our day as it will be ruled by a very fiery Sun in Sagittarius. Wisdom, knowledge, and insight are abound as the Leo Moon brings attention to self affirmation and acceptance after separating from this trine to Jupiter.
