Week 4: January 2023 Week 4, The Week Ahead with Blaze
Venus enters her exaltation, Pisces, this Thursday! The Sun makes a sextile to Jupiter and trine to Mars. After the New Moon, many new beginnings start to unfold.
Introduction
Monday Jan 23rd
[4:24 AM ET] The Moon conjoins Saturn at 24º50’ Aquarius
[5:19 AM ET] The Moon conjoins Venus at 25º25’ Aquarius
[12:35 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Pisces
On Monday, the Moon is waxing and gaining light in the sky after being in her dark phase throughout the weekend, invisible and vanished from the sky. The Moon in this phase is in a period of shedding light, finishing up her monthly cycle, and undergoes a rebirth as she conjoins the Sun. When the Moon starts waxing and increasing in light, she will move away from the Sun’s Beams finally becoming visible as the New Moon. As Venus and Saturn made their conjunction on Sunday, the Moon puts a spotlight on this conjunction in Aquarius on Monday morning. The conversations will be around setting boundaries in relationships, trying to find longevity within our partnerships, and wanting to be around real, grounded, people. Venus next to Saturn flavors our mood to be more serious, having enduring passions, and needing to define and establish limits. The seriousness of Saturn can be mellowed out by the warm and inviting nature of Venus. A conjunction of the Moon to any planet tends to amplify the nature of that planet, but in this case the Moon conjoins 2 planets. This all happens as the Moon is leaving the beams of the Sun, representing an emergence of events & circumstances after a period of secrecy. New limits, new terms, and new boundaries are set, and in the Fixed Air sign, Saturn is dominating in the conjunction, since this is its home sign, creating fixed and enduring limitations and a tinge of melancholy/gloominess. The Moon then enters Pisces which should smoothen out some of the rigidity the Aquarius Moon brought. The Moon moves into a Mutable Sign, which brings changes and fluctuations, and in water sign, theres more emphasis on releasing and feeling our emotions. The Moon in Jupiter’s sign brings a more fluid, compassionate, inclusive, and forgiving approach to how we engage with others. The Moon will be moving towards a square to Mars throughout the rest of the day, but it doesn’t go exact until late at night on Tuesday. This square can make us feel more agitated, aggressive, and confrontational since the Moon squaring Mars heightens tensions, creates friction, and irritates us.
Tuesday Jan 24th
[2:56 AM ET] The Moon in Pisces square Mars at 08º55’ Gemini
[4:58 AM ET] The Moon in Pisces sextile Mercury at 10º11’ Capricorn
[8:30 PM ET] The Sun in Aquarius sextile Jupiter at 4º47’ Aries
On Tuesday, the Moon will perfect a square to Mars that adds a lot of grit, energy, and spurs action early in the morning. It can bring harm and accidents to the body, since the Moon is the body and Mars is illness. This can also create physical conflict, violence, and outbursts of aggression. This is one of the tenser aspects for the day, but after the Moon separates from Mars, it makes a sextile to Mercury in Capricorn. This sextile is great for writing, studying, speaking, learning, sending important documents/messages, and doing anything related to Mercury. This is a great moment for learning, getting the numbers, details, and being practical about your dreams. The morning will start off feeling disrupted, with anger, and frustration as the Moon squares Mars but we find an opportunity to communicate our distress and feelings as the Moon sextiles Mercury. Having a good, grounded, conversation is what Mercury in Capricorn does best. The Moon will not connect with any planets as its moving through the sign, so the Moon will be void after this sextile. This is not a good time to be starting or initiating projects. If you are trying to accomplish things in which you desire no effect to happen afterwards, this is a great time for letting go, moving on, and finishing something. We might feel like we’re floundering, like a fish through the water with no aim since the Moon wont connect with any other planets. Don’t expect plans to fall through, when the Moon is Void, nothing will come of the situation. The Moon is in a mutable sign, so plans can flip and flop on a moments notice.
However, the Sun and Jupiter will make a sextile to each other today too. This is a really supportive aspect that has been building since the beginning of Aquarius Season. Jupiter lends support, friendship, alleviates restrictions, affirms, and lends courage over to an Exiled Sun in Aquarius. This connection of these between Aries and Aquarius is nice because Aries can offer more quickness, confidence, and courage over to Aquarius who is quite antithetical to the Sun’s nature, contemplative, slow, and logical. Planets in sextile are supporting and affirming each other, and this can be a moment of getting recognition, spotlight, and feeling seen or having a boost of confidence about something you’ve been insecure about. Now you have this push to move forward with it. More of these new beginnings and big actions get introduced during Aries Season (March-May) of this year.
Wednesday Jan 25th
[1:47 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon in Aries
[10:18 PM ET] The Moon conjoins Jupiter at 04º58’ Aries
[11:58 PM ET] The Moon in Aries sextile the Sun at 05º27’ Aquarius
On Wednesday, the Moon enters Aries, giving us a nice boost of heat and energy as she changes signs in the afternoon ET. The Cardinal energy helps us to be more quick in action, desiring for new beginnings, and starting new things. The Moon will be making a conjunction to Jupiter throughout the entire day, which brings a more optimistic vibe for the day. Jupiter is the Greater Benefic who seeks to affirm us, guide us with wisdom, spiritual guidance, and liberation. This is great for building community, seeking aid and support from alliances. The Moon and Jupiter in Aries bring a boost of confidence to initiate, take bold action, and have the courage to face fears. Jupiter wants us to expand our horizons and see the vision ahead. It all starts with one action. Aries is the first sign that initiates and begins the zodiac, and with these two planets here today, they want us to move forward with our new idea that was conceived on the New Moon in Aquarius (Jan 21st). The Moon will make a sextile to the Sun after, pushing the Aries nature of confidence, boldness, and courage over to the Sun. The Moon will be shining as a crescent in the sky by this time and will gain light throughout the week (waxing). The Aquarius and Aries energy on Wednesday are very contrasting since one is ruled by Saturn who is slow, serious, and cautious versus Mars who is haughty, impulsive, quick, and decisive. Jupiter and the Moon brings honors, praise, success, victory in competition (in a collective sense), and achievement. Jupiter is a benefic so these experiences are pleasurable, offering liberation, aid, commanding the good and forbidding the wrong. Jupiter as a planet of justice comes to restore faith and keep their promise of alleviating our sorrows.
Thursday Jan 26th
[5:39 AM ET] The Moon in Aries sextile Mars at 09º14’ Gemini
[10:07 AM ET] The Moon in Aries square Mercury at 11º48’ Capricorn
[9:32 PM ET] INGRESS: Venus enters Pisces
On Thursday, the Moon will continue to move through Aries and after it sextiles the Sun, it makes a sextile to Mars too. The Moon is highlighting the Sun trine Mars aspect that goes exact at the end of this week. The Moon is actually connecting with both of the planets that govern over this sign: the Sun exaltation of Aries and Mars as the domicile lord. This broader aspects talks about the confirmation and clarity around delays over the past 2 months that start to get a boost of energy and the pace picks up after a brief month of Capricorn Season delays. Mars was Retrograde in Aries, but it is now direct, and every time a planet stations Direct, it will make a trine to the Sun. This trine goes exact on Friday and the Sun will be in the 9th position from Mars, rendering clarity, knowledge, and insight to the reasons for Mars going Retrograde and what actions can be taken moving forward. The Sun trining Mars is liking giving Mars a nod to start moving forward again. The Moon gets in on the action to spur up more conflict, fights, debates, arguments, and there is more hostility in the air. It feels very fricative and argumentative since the Moon will also make a square to Mercury. There is challenging information that is brought our way that stresses us out and burns us out. The Moon in Aries and Mercury in Capricorn are both in dry signs, which highlight the abrasive, fricative, and sandpaper-like style of communicating. It’s very forthright and cut throat. We’re thinking on our toes and making quick decisions today.
This is really interesting because as all soon as all this fiery energy is going on in the astrology, Venus shifts from Aquarius to Pisces. This is an important shift for the end of the month since Venus gains strength, and thus support to bring about the things she represents, by entering her exaltation. A planet that is exalted is said to be in their “kingdom” and their essence become exaggerated. Venus is the heavenly, illustrious, laughter-loving, queen who wants to bring unity, harmony, balance, justice, beauty, joy, and laughter into our lives. She enters her exaltation where, with the help of Jupiter, she moves people to want to take an oath of devotion of commitment. That is what Pisces is. It is true commitment and devotion that creates love— “The will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth… Love is as love does. Love is an act of will-namely, both an intention and an action. Will also implies choice. We do not have to love. We choose to love.” - bell hooks, all about love: new visions. Pisces is the mystic, the poet, the diviner, teacher, the wise person who offers advice, passionate and creative. Venus brings an openness to expression of love, a uniqueness, and more freedom. We are urged to love with all our heart and fall for the person we make eye contact with that sparks of attraction fly all across the room. Venus entering into her exaltation is a great time for seeking out relationships, being more creative and artistic, practicing deep spiritual devotion and faith. This transit brings a certain level of smoothness and friendliness to the astro weather, bringing some planets into water signs (that aren’t ruled by Mars) that offer nurturance, compassionate, forgiveness, and aid. Expect more pleasant interactions, flirting, playful teasing, and romance. This is a nice way to end the day that cools things down, and we desire to indulge, let off steam, and relax.
Friday Jan 27th
[10:12 AM ET] The Moon in Aries sextile Saturn at 25º20’ Aquarius
[6:42 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Taurus
[8:56 PM ET] The Moon in Taurus sextile Venus at 01º12’ Pisces
On Friday, the Moon will make a sextile to Saturn early in the morning which can make us less impulsive than Thursday, and more restrained, blocked, and serious. The sextile to Saturn contrasts the quick and instinctive nature of Mars with the patient and slow nature of Saturn. We may find ourselves needing to take a break, limits our actions, and feel physically tired. We are encouraged to go slow, adhere to limits and restrictions, and get grounded. The Moon then enters Taurus, the sign of its exaltation, and things change— they soften and the tension starts to release. The Moon and Venus are in a really nice reception here, the Moon in Venus’s sign, while also being in their exaltation, and Venus as the domicile lord of the Moon being in their exaltation. Taurus and Pisces are the signs of love, of romance, and unity between people, their connection today is a great time to find love. The Moon in Taurus wants us to get grounded, activate our senses with smells, massages, good food, good drinks, and great company. These are benefic signs that are activated and it promises the ability to cultivate a sense of beauty in the world around us. It will be the first Friday with Venus exalted Pisces so it is a really nice aspect. Venus in Pisces is a favorite transit of mine because Venus is the binds we find with our friends and the love we have for them that keeps us together, it is the attraction you find during sexy time with your partner and you can’t keep your hands off of each other, it’s the rush of inspiration you get when images flood your brain of your next creative project. Venus makes us feel alive and connected to the world around us. If there is any important project, especially if it is creative, this is a great time for the completion of matters that you want elevation, praise, and success from. It is a celebratory aspect and it is my favorite one for this week. Venus brings good vibes on Friday night. With a close knit of friends, some good food, and lots of laughter.
Saturday Jan 28th
[10:18 AM ET] The Moon in Taurus square the Sun at 08º25’ Aquarius
[11:03 AM ET] The Moon conjoins the North Node at 08º49’ Taurus
[8:43 PM ET] The Moon in Taurus trine Mercury at 13º57’ Capricorn
Over the weekend, the Moon in Taurus will make a square to the Sun in Aquarius which brings in the 1st Quarter Moon. The day the Sun and Moon are in conflict with each other creates conflict with our circumstances and our willpower for the day. Taurus brings issues around rest, physical nourishment, and pleasure being contrasted with the disciplined, rigid, and restrictive nature of the Sun in Aquarius. We find physical needs are contrasted with social restrictions. The Moon is exalted in this situation, and the Sun is exiled. The Moon is kind of winning in this fight. The Moon wants to provide safety and stabilize comfort, while the Sun in Aquarius puts a spotlight and waning stability with certain infrastructures as the Sun moves closer to Saturn. The Moon shows the people are stronger than those in positions of power (the Sun). The Moon will make a trine to Mercury in Capricorn by the end of the day which is great for learning, studying, communicating, writing, and the Moon offers a certain level of earthiness and stability to the way we express our words today. This is another nice aspect today since Mercury likes the cold and dry nature of the Earth signs, and the Moon also likes this triplicity too. Mercury in Capricorn makes the nature of communication serious, reserved, but having lots of depth and history. The Moon in Taurus gives us comfort in communicating the complex, very forthright, somewhat brutal, and straightforward. It can be a little blunt, but still comforting and relaxing since the Moon is in Taurus. While we find the beginning of the day was more stressful and confrontational, the end of the day becomes more supportive, these is an ease of mind, and good flow of mental concentration and feeling mentally soothed. After the Moon makes this aspect, it will be applying to a square to Saturn in Aquarius, but this will not go exact until Sunday. We may start to feel physically exhausted, limited, and tired as the Moon hits the hard aspect of the malefic.
Sunday Jan 29th
[7:03 PM ET] The Moon in Taurus square Saturn at 25º36’ Aquarius
[8:45 PM ET] Sun in Aquarius trines Mars at 9º53’ Gemini
On Sunday, the Moon will perfect its square to Saturn in Aquarius, and we may feel very tired, exhausted, worn out, and depleted of energy on Sunday morning. The Moon is the body and the hard aspect for the malefic puts a lot of stress on our physicality. Tense muscles, sore joints, and stiff limbs. This is a good time to release all the tension in your body. The Moon and Saturn are both in signs they have rulership in, so the tension is more stubborn; the Moon desiring comfort and relaxation while Saturn shows the inhibiting and restricting force preventing us from feeling that. Throughout the entire day, we’ll encounter limits, blockages, rules, obstacles, and restrictions until later in the afternoon when we can finally move past whatever was holding us back. The aspect that perfects after is the Sun trine Mars which, as I mentioned earlier, is like a nod to Mars to start picking up pace and resume actions in the house Gemini rules. Except the Sun is not super confident in the knowledge it has to provide to Mars, the planet of action, decision making, and impulse. The Sun in Aquarius is caught in a stalemate of no-action with Mars in Gemini. These are two planets that have very similar qualities since they are 1) Choleric in Nature (Hot + Dry), and 2) Have rulership over the sign Aries. Both of theme don’t do too well in Air Signs. Matters of conflict, violence, fighting are being looked at with the lens of bringing peace or suspending action. Aquarius was looked at as a sign of peace, whereas the Sun and Mars bring change. The Sun gives us information about the nature of the delays that took place with Mars’ Retrograde over the past 2.5 months, and offers new actions and solutions to move forward. Take a look at where Aquarius and Gemini are at in your chart. The Aquarius house will be lending solutions and support over to the Gemini house. The Sun in Aquarius is not the most self confidence and assured, but is more logical and practical about matters, and self interest is not always the main motivator. Social order and change are the themes of Aquarius and Gemini: the fixing of ideas and values that then become contested and are wavering due to the mutable nature of Gemini. Mars urges us to take action and to make some initiative throughout the entire week, but culminating today. Its almost like the New Year is finally getting started with the push to move forward again. All of this becomes especially activated as the Moon enters Aquarius on Monday the 30th, and conjoins Mars. Sudden disruptions, verbal arguments/hostility, and conflict are afoot that need to be navigated with a certain level of coolness and stoic demeanor that only an Aquarian could embody.
