The song of the week is Virgo's Groove because Mercury re enters Virgo, the Moon enters Virgo, and they all conjoin Venus. The Sun enters Libra, and the Moon conjoins the Sun, ending the month.
Introduction
Monday, Sept 19th
[4:52 PM ET] The Moon in Cancer sextile Venus at 18º13’ Virgo
On Monday, the Moon starts off in Cancer making a sextile to Venus in Virgo. The Moon is at home in domicile in Cancer and its connecting with a planet who is Fallen, Combust, and overcome by Mars. Venus as a wet planet who is currently being very dried out is able to receive support and help from the Moon who gives her nature of moisture over to Venus. The Moon helps to soothe us and cool us down on Monday after feeling very overwhelmed and stressed over the weekend. It’s an omen to relax, nourish your body, and rest.
Tuesday, Sept 20th
[12:44 AM ET] Venus in Virgo trine Uranus Retrograde at 18º37’ Taurus
[8:58 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer opposes Pluto Retrograde at 26º11’ Capricorn
[11:56 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer sextile the Sun at 27º40’ Virgo
[4:37 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Leo
[9:52 PM ET] The Moon in Leo sextile Mercury Retrograde at 02º36’ Libra
On Tuesday, the Moon is still swimming through the remaining part of Cancer and it will encounter an opposition to Pluto early in the morning. This can indicate tension, struggles, and challenges with emotional comfort and it gives us a push to address hidden and buried feelings that may be disrupting our relaxation time. The Moon will make a sextile to the Sun in Virgo, which is great for recognition, leadership, being seen, affirmed, and acknowledged by friends or even family, since the Moon is giving her virtue of compassion, comfort, and care to the Sun. The Moon will enter the fiery fixed sign Leo, where it will bring matters of self, individuality, being recognized, affirmed, and seen into focus. The Moon in Leo comes into contact with Mercury Retrograde today, which makes us rethink things in relationship to our self and identity and how we engage in relationships with others. The Moon highlights a revision, previous thought, idea, or conversation or relationship that gets us talking and thinking later in the day. This could be great for editing, reviewing over old writing, and how it reflected a different phase or time of our identity and sense of self. There is a reminiscent feeling to this connection.
Wednesday, Sept 21st
[1:31 AM ET] The Moon in Leo trine Jupiter Retrograde at 04º26’ Aries
Going into Wednesday, the Moon in Leo makes a trine to Jupiter in Aries, which is a really nice vibe for most of Wednesday. This will be the only aspect that takes place within the day, and an overcoming trine from Jupiter is always great. Jupiter is able to offer us wisdom, knowledge, and insight to help us understand more about our identity. Jupiter is able to affirm the Moon and expand its perception. Jupiter is in the 9th sign from the Moon, so in this position Jupiter acts as a mentor, a teacher, a sage, someone who is able to share with us their wisdom. This could also be a sign of receiving a message from a dream, diviner, astrologer, tarot card reader, or anyone who is involved in spiritual + religious practices. Expanding perspective is the theme for today, brainstorming, building ideas, rethinking your vision, and rethinking your perception of self.
Thursday, Sept 22nd
[2:00 AM ET] The Moon in Leo sextile Mars at 16º45’ Gemini
[5:36 AM ET] The Moon in Leo square Uranus Retrograde at 18º35’ Taurus
[7:06 AM ET] The Moon in Leo opposes Saturn Retrograde at 19º21’ Aquarius
[9:03 PM ET] INGRESS: The Sun enters Libra
On Thursday, the Moon in Leo makes a sextile to Mars in Gemini, which, after having Wednesday to reflect on our dreams, aspirations, goals, and expand our perspective, Mars gives us the ability to take action and take initiative, especially since this is the first time they’re witnessing each other since last weekend when the conjoined. This could also be a moment where you’re dealing with or seeing doctors, surgeons, or anyone working in the health/medical field since Mars indicates these things. The Moon will then make a square to Uranus and oppose Saturn throughout the morning which highlights the Saturn/Uranus square which is closing together throughout this week and next week. This indicates unexpected interruptions, shake ups in stability and foundations, delays, and disruptions. Whereas Wednesday was a little more optimistic and hopeful, Thursday feels a little more grave and somber. The Moon opposing Saturn can indicate stress and challenges with the body in particular. Saturn wants us to address structural issues and think about long term sustained action rather than quick impulses. Where the Moon in Leo is more concerned about the self affirmation and praise, an opposition to Saturn can bring for rejection & feeling shame. Saturn as the ruler of Aquarius shows us that ideals of individuality and standing out are contrasted with society, collective identity, and standards/conventions. We may somehow feel rejected or outcasts from having our own unique individuality shine through. Saturn brings obscurity where the Sun brings luminance.
Speaking of the Sun, the Sun enters Libra today which is traditionally said to be the sign of it’s Depression or Fall. When a planet is fallen, it indicates that there is disappointment, struggle, and is met with resistance when trying to bring about the things it signifies. The Sun as a planet of confidence, recognition, self, affirmation, luminance, and demanding to be seen finds these qualities repressed in Libra. The Sun’s exaltation is said to be in Aries because the concept of Exaltation, according to Hermes, from Abu Ma’shar, is that things are moving towards a state of increase and growth. He specifically says that everything has a beginning, middle, and end, and that Exaltation represents the phase of growth in the beginning. The Sun’s exaltation gets placed in Aries because it is the sign of the Equinox where the length of day and night are equal, but the length of daylight is now increasing. On the other hand, during Libra Season, the length of day and night is equal, but now trending towards decline or fall. The implications of the Sun being depressed in Libra show us that we might struggle in this moment of self confidence and asserting ourselves. Where the Sun in Leo is confident in their identity, actions, and decisions, the Sun in Libra is a much more fearful and cautious decision maker. Carefully considering others opinions, details, and information before making any decisions. The Sun becomes ruled by Venus during this time, and it shows us that selfishness, self-centeredness, and really the self is not supported in this sign, and with that, we find doubt in our knowledge, our confidence, and being able to express one’s self. Venus shows relationships to others and in relationships, we are dealing with more than just us, but we. The focus is not just on me this month, it is on us. The focus for the Sun entering Libra shifts towards balance, diplomacy, and justice. What is fair? What is just? And how are we feeling a lack of these things in our lives currently? For a brief moment, the Sun in Libra will be ruled by a Fallen Venus in Virgo, and even though this Fall is more milder since Virgo and Venus share similar natures, this absence of justice can be the feeling we currently have as Venus is getting ready to set under under the beams of the Sun.
Friday, Sept 23rd
[2:49 AM ET] SYNODIC CYCLE: Mercury Retrograde conjoins the Sun at 00º14’ Libra
[3:53 AM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Virgo
[8:04 AM ET] INGRESS: Mercury re-enters Virgo
On Friday, right after the Sun has ingressed into Libra, Mercury conjoins the Sun at 0º Libra right on the Equinox point. When any planet is conjoined to the Sun, it is said to be Cazimi (transliteration of the Arabic, كصميمي, kasamimi) which has connotations of being warm, intimate, and close, and getting to the heart of a matter. Mercury and the Sun are getting pretty intimate, but this is a moment where we are able to get to the core, the heart of the matter in terms of what this Mercury Retrograde represents. Typically, Mercury conjoined to the Sun means some information, news, or message comes our way that makes things make sense. Planets conjoined to the Sun bring their significations to the forefront of our focus, and for Mercury, this is speaking, writing, communication, and revising these matters since Mercury is Retrograde. We may have overlooked facts and details that come into our focus and perception today. For this reason, Mercury is going to have to retrograde back into Virgo and re-analyze everything. It’s also interesting too because the Moon enters Virgo today too, and both planets are moving towards Venus during this time, Mercury from one side and the Moon from the other side. There’s lots of information to discuss and talk about today, but it is also a day of insight, realization, and revelation. Mercury will move back into its home sign Virgo, which can imply that there is more left to review and revisit in the house Virgo rules in your chart, especially since the Moon is also here as the fastest planet. Today is a moment of clarity, and with the swiftness that Hermes always promises, time to get right to work and make these revisions. Get the numbers correct, details straight, and one last look at making sure nothing is out of order.
Saturday, Sept 24th
[4:51 AM ET] Venus in Virgo opposes Neptune Retrograde at 23º49’ Pisces
[1:50 PM ET] The Moon in Virgo square Mars at 17º45’ Gemini
On Saturday, after all the planets have entered the Mutable Earth sign, Venus in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces today. Venus is the planet of relationships and pleasure and there can be challenges with things not being what they seem, somewhat hazy, and confusing as Venus confronts Neptune. This opposition shows a polarization in reality and pleasure, and maybe its a moment of disillusionment and needing to get more nitpick about the details. Removing the facade and bringing the facts, with 3 planets in Virgo. There might be things that distort our understanding of pleasure and enjoyment, especially since today the Moon will also make a square to Mars in Gemini. Whenever the Moon makes a square to Mars, it can be a time of conflict, competition, and contest. We might find that there is a particular sharpness to our words that we find on Saturday, especially since Mercury and Mars will now move back to a whole sign square with each other, and they’re actually both mutually applying to square each other, but this aspect will never perfect. Mercury and Mars in a whole sign square with each other is indicative of harsh words, unpleasant speech (as in vulgar or disrespectful), loudness with speech, shouting, protest, defiance, with a certain level of audacity and quickness. The Moon activates this connection between them, but this weekend from the perspective of Venus and the harm she has experienced from Mars last weekend when they squared off. The Moon squaring Mars can also show up as having a lot of stress on the physical body, whether it be because of exhaustion, too much work, or even injury, Mars can indicate being reckless with your body, and when we have malefic transits like this, if you’re not trying to get injured, in a fight, in conflict, or competition, don’t be reckless, be tactful. This is going to be one of the more important lessons especially as Mars starts slowing down. Venus opposing Neptune as the Moon squares Mars is an indicator that the things that are being indulged in for pleasure are potentially harming the body because there is an unseen or unclear understanding/awareness of all the consequences.
Sunday, Sept 25th
[1:10 AM ET] The Moon in Virgo opposes Neptune Retrograde at 23º48’ Pisces
[3:24 AM ET] The Moon conjoins Venus at 24º59’ Virgo
[8:49 AM ET] The Moon conjoins Mercury Retrograde at 27º54’ Virgo
[12:42 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Libra
[5:54 PM ET] LUNATION: New Moon at 02º48’ Libra
[7:44 PM ET] The Moon in Libra opposes Jupiter Retrograde at 03º48’ Aries
On Sunday, the Moon will highlight the current connection between Venus and Neptune as she opposes Neptune first and then conjoins its body to Venus. When planets are conjoined to each other it is said to be a corporeal conjunction, since their bodies are merging together in the sky. Any time the Moon is with a benefic it tends to be a more supportive and uplifting day, and especially with the Moon conjoining Venus. This is a day for love, pleasure, physical comfort and indulgence. The Moon will be highlighting a very interesting connection forming between Venus and Mercury right now which is their conjunction! This will take place next week, but the Moon brings all three of these planets together in a full little Virgo Party dancing to Virgo’s Groove.
Mercury is said to be benefic when it is with the benefic planets, but malefic when with the malefic planets. In this case of the Mercury Retrograde, Mercury started out applying to a trine with Mars (a malefic), but it had a change of heart and went back towards Venus (a benefic). This could be indicative of revisiting some relationship or communication from the past, since Mercury is retrograding conjoining Venus. Venus and Mercury are mutually moving towards each other, and it can indicate mutual connection. Venus shares her confusion since she recently opposed Neptune, and Mercury expresses their change of heart. Venus and Mercury bring more soft conversations, since Venus is able to soothe the nature of the words Mercury has to offer. Mercury brings cleverness in our speech and the ability to persuade others with Venus. This is great for art, music, and creative endeavors. Venus adds the creative and relatable component, and Mercury ads the technique and word play. Our words are indulgent and pleasurable on this day. Mercury is the domicile lord of Venus by this time, and so Venus is able to receive the support and help from Venus, which will eventually push her back into a position of strength as Venus will enter her domicile, Libra. This configuration going on between Mercury and Venus is super important because this is the configuration getting highlighted for the New Moon in Libra which takes place today. After the Moon conjoins everything in Virgo, it will then enter Libra and highlight another important aspect taking place: the Sun opposing Jupiter.
Jupiter is currently in a phase known as the Acronychal Phase where it is within a 7º30’ opposition to the Sun. This is this halfway point in Jupiter’s Retrograde cycle. Although this aspect will go exact next week, it gets highlighted in this New Moon. It is in this curtailed passage that Jupiter is said to be starting to pick up a little bit more speed, but it is still moving Retrograde, so there is an element of disorientation since picking up speed and getting faster was a sign of being able to bring about the things it represents, but since it is Retrograde the delays and hinderances are still present. Whenever a planet is opposite the Sun, it also becomes the brightest it possibly can be in the sky. If you haven’t seen already, Jupiter is a really bright shining star in the sky during the night time right now. Since Jupiter has passed over these degrees of Aries before, it indicates that Jupiter is revisiting some of the themes of the topics in the house Aries rules in your chart, but now something that was overlooked finally becomes more clear and visible. Aries talks about new beginnings, impulse, starting, self, leadership, excitement, enthusiasm, zeal, and here Jupiter needs a little balance. There is a balancing act going on here, a pull of the self versus the other. Mars ruling Aries thinks about the self, whereas Venus ruling Libra is more inclined to consider others first. Themes of justice, fairness, order, and law come into play, and challenges and attacks that have taken place on what is fair or just. Mars as the ruler of Jupiter is overcoming Venus who rules the Lunation. This whole configuration is a nod to the Mars/Jupiter conjunction that took place on May 29th, 2022 at 3º Aries, which is where Jupiter has Retrograded back to. We saw the leak to overturn Roe v Wade come up during this Mars/Jupiter conjunction, which brought an attack on law, courts, legal matters, and justice since Mars brought malefic experience to Jupiter. This lunation should highlight another key moment in that ongoing story.
This lunation really kicks things off for Fall 2022 in the Northern Hemisphere, and Spring 2022 for the Southern Hemisphere, since the Sun has just ingressed in Libra. Jupiter being in such tight opposition brings philosophy, faith, religion, belief, truth, honesty, jurisdiction, learning, education, law, friends, groups, and organizations. The nature of generosity and benevolences and reconsidering what that means and where there needs to be a balance in reciprocating energy is being examined during this Fall. One of the more important significations of Jupiter is that it represents taking oaths, vows, promises, and the swearing that you will fulfill a promise you make, and there is a review of the truthfulness and honesty of dynamics within relationships. Lack of confidence can be the theme for this Lunation because Jupiter’s exaltation lord is the Sun in Libra who it is opposing and is currently Fallen. One of the ancient significations of the Sun in Libra by ancient astrologers was that it was like a ruler who was disliked by the people who they rule over, for Libra is about balance and selflessness, but the Sun is all about the self. There is this continuing tug of war of fairness, selfishness and selflessness, focusing on the self and focusing on what others. We find our ego gets squashed by the Saturnian nature of this sign. Libra’s significations are heavily influenced by the fact that Saturn is exalted here. The sign of strictness, standards, order, patience, contemplation restricts and represses the ego and will of the Sun. Saturn is also highlighted here in this lunation because it is in the bounds of Saturn (0-6º Libra). If we take a look at what Saturn is doing, it is forming a trine with Mars, restricting and bringing something that was in secret to light. Saturn represents secret, obscure, or hidden things, and when in the overcoming trine they become revealed since they are in the 9th sign from the faster planet and the 9th house is the house of revelations. This New Moon really asks us how we can honor what fairness and justice looks like in our lives. How can we participate in bringing about justice? What places in the world do we see an imbalance of power? Saturn brings a sense of pause, constraint, and restriction to the beginning of the fall, as its slowing influence also slows down Mars in its action, requiring more sustained, long term, and extended planing. Saturn wants us to think about structure, long term foundations, and stability for this lunation, and how we can seek out support and help with the opposition to Jupiter.
Recently there was a Hurricane (Fiona) that hit Puerto Rico and it is one of the worst ones thats hit the island since Hurricane Maria did in 2017, and the island is completely flooded, with no power or electricity. Boricuas are being displaced from their home because the United States government has offered their country, on a silver platter for real estate investors who are seeking tax breaks due to specific acts like Act 20 and 22. This is colonization. Real estate investors who are displacing natives to the island have the luxury of being able to hop on a plane and fly out of the country when a hurricane like this hits, while the people left on this island are without resources. The United States enables this injustice, and these Gringos think they can just come in the island and do as they please like they did hundreds of years ago because they have wealth, money, and power. This is white supremacy at work. With Libra Season around the corner and we talk about matters of justice, addressing the harm of imperialism, capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and understanding what legal structures are set in place that enable this exploitation of other countries and extraction of their resources for profit, this needs to be part of the conversation. The stars are loud and clear about the corruption. More thank likely it will take a while for people to recover on the island because of the lack of access to resources. The hurricane hasn’t recovered completely from the destruction of Hurricane Maria in 2017. There are some resources where you can donate to help make sure those who are actually in need get the resources, and that corrupt governments or organizations don’t misallocate funds.
