Monday, Aug 22nd
[12:09 PM ET] The Moon in Cancer square Jupiter Retrograde at 07º43’ Aries
[5:58 PM ET] Mercury in Virgo trine Pluto Retrograde at 26º36’ Capricorn
[11:16 PM ET] INGRESS: The Sun enters Virgo
On Monday, the Moon will return back home to their domicile, seeking nourishment, comfort, and the need to decompress and relax. The Moon is currently in the waning crescent phase where she is continuing to lose a lot of her light, and during this phase, the Moon is compared by ancient authors to the season of Winter taking on Cold and Wet qualities. The vibe is definitely a lot more watery and about trying to gain clearer perspective on life today, especially since the Sun and Moon are both in their domiciles today. The Moon in Cancer prioritizes our comfort and our desire to relax. We could expect some good news when the Moon squares Jupiter today, such friendship, trust, and support from other people. Jupiter is positioned in the overcoming position to the Moon, so it indicates expansion and growth are things that influence our needs for comfort & coziness. Jupiter’s influence encourages one to expand the mind through teachers, those that are wiser, and it is the pursuit of the truth, whether it be through divination, religion, astrology, these things are all influenced by Jupiter.
The Sun will be completing its transit through Leo today when it enters Virgo. The Sun really highlighted major challenges with Saturn, indicating challenges with structures, foundations, & stability but it also highlighted growing challenges with Mars in Taurus, since the Sun has been moving towards a whole sign square to Mars for a few months, ever since Cancer Season when Mars was in Aries. Mars in an overcoming aspect to the Sun creates a lot of tension, challenges, and friction since the nature of the square is Mars, which can be motivating & bring resistance, but it can also indicate conflict & tension. Mars in the overcoming position in Gemini, dominating over the Sun, now in Virgo, making the aspect it represents looks like major tensions, fights, and conflicts are starting to brew, but the context has shifted, since today the Sun enters Virgo. The Sun will leave its domicile, but enter into another sign where it finds interesting strength, Virgo. Our focus learns less towards our ability to tackle challenges with just pure strength and willpower, and we’re starting to see that the battle really is mental, since the Sun moves into a sign ruled by Mercury. But it’s important to mention that both the Sun and Mars are signs ruled by Mercury, while Mercury is getting ready to change signs, and eventually station Retrograde in the coming weeks. This week also is going to be the entirety of Mercury being in shadow (it entered last Saturday Aug 20th), so these events will eventually need to be reviewed by Sept 10th when Mercury stations Retrograde in Libra. Oh yeah, Mercury is changing signs this week too. The theme of the challenges is all about communication, news, messages, letters, since Mercury ruled Gemini & Virgo. The Sun entering into Virgo calls us to use our knowledge as our greatest weapon, analysis, technique, precision— all Virgo things. The Sun entering into an Earth Sign helps to bring a grounding energy to the Astro Weather, cooling the Fire and the heat down, but still retaining the dryness and fricative nature of Earth. There’s a call to be much more logical, discerning, & practicing good judgement through continuing to learn and study. This Virgo Season will be predominately ruled by Mercury Retrograde, so in some ways this may indicate that we have to rethink about the confidence we have in what we know, the accuracy of the information, and challenges therein. We need to make changes, re-adjustments, and realizing we cannot move forward. Now is the time for revision and ESPECIALLY paying attention to the details, because Virgo.
Tuesday, Aug 23rd
Tuesday is a calmer day in the astro-weather. For 24 hours no planets will be making aspects to each other. The Moon will be moving slow through Cancer. We find a moment to get really in tune and aware of our emotions, and it adds a lot of fluidity to the day, where the general aspects between Mars and the Sun bring lots of dryness and rigidity. The Moon is moving slower because she is conjoined to her Apogee, so it quite literally is a slow day. You don’t really have to do much today, just vibe. The Moon is in Domicile and relaxing, so should you.
Wednesday, Aug 24th
[2:16 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer opposes Pluto Retrograde at 26º34’ Capricorn
[5:40 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer sextile Mercury at 28º15’ Virgo
[9:09 AM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Leo
[9:53 AM ET] STATION: Uranus stations Retrograde at 18º55’ Taurus
[2:16 PM ET] The Moon in Leo sextile Mars at 02º33’ Gemini
On Wednesday, the Moon will still be moving through Cancer and it opposes Pluto, which can bring up lots of deep fears, anxieties, and is a period where our comfort is disrupted. After the Moon opposes Pluto, it makes a sextile to Mercury which brings news our way. The Moon and Mercury are both in the sign of their domicile, so it gives us the strength of feeling and tapping into the bodily reactions to emotion, and the ability to communicate, process, and talk about them with Mercury. After this, the Moon will enter Leo in the morning, bringing more heat and dryness to the day. This transition of the Moon into Leo is interesting because the final disposition of the sky becomes Mercury in Virgo for today and tomorrow. It makes writings, news, communications, and words the central focus for today.
(The final dispositor in the chart is determined by the rulership scheme between the planets. If we pick any planet to start from, like Jupiter in Aries, ruled by Mars in Gemini, ruled by Mercury in Virgo. Or if we go to the Moon + Venus in Leo, ruled by the Sun in Virgo, ruled by Mercury in Virgo. All of the planets (except Saturn because Saturn is at home in Aquarius) are responding eventually to Mercury because Mercury is in domicile in Virgo.)
Also taking place today, Uranus stations Retrograde at 18º Taurus, which is the farthest Uranus will get through Taurus this year. This moment where Uranus stations Retrograde and starts moving backwards is a moment of sudden disruption and upheaval, especially since the Moon in Leo is able to witness this station. It motivates us to take action and initiative as the Moon makes a sextile to Mars in Gemini. This is actually the first time the Moon is able to witness Mars in Gemini since they conjoined in Taurus. Flames catch easily in Leo and they’re fanned by the sharpness of Mars’ tongue in Gemini.
Thursday, Aug 25th
[12:10 AM ET] The Moon in Leo trine Jupiter Retrograde at 07º31’ Aries
[7:50 PM ET] The Moon conjoins Venus at 17º26’ Leo
[9:02 PM ET] INGRESS: Mercury enters Libra
[10:44 PM ET] The Moon in Leo square Uranus Retrograde at 18º55’ Taurus
On Thursday, the Moon in Leo makes a beautiful trine to Jupiter, on Jupiter’s Day! This is a great moment to ask for favors from others, build friendship, trust, honesty, and gives us the confidence to be seen, acknowledged, and recognized by others. We get a piece of wisdom from a teacher during this trine. Because Jupiter is Retrograde, its also a moment to revise and revisit how we engage with trust & honesty. The Moon becomes enclosed between both of the benefics for most of the day, since the Moon will then be moving towards a conjunction with Venus right after. This is great for love, laughter, romance, creativity, playing instruments, drinking wine, indulging, relaxing, loving beautiful things. The enclosure of any planet in the aspects of benefics represents aid, protection from harm, and joy. Any time the Moon is in a conjunction to a benefic, it is always an auspicious day. The Moon conjoining Venus brings the Venus/Saturn opposition closer together, which can talk about needing to set boundaries in relationships or take things slower. Before we get there though, Mercury enters Libra today, and it’s only going to be here for a little while, but Mercury does leave the sign of its domicile, and now enters Venus’s turf. Mercury in Venus’s sign seeks to use communication, news, and information to bring justice, balance, and unify people together. The Moon then squares Uranus which creates disruption to our routines and sense of comfort.
Friday, Aug 26th
[2:54 AM ET] The Moon in Leo opposes Saturn Retrograde at 21º02’ Aquarius
[8:24 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Virgo
As we shift into the weekend, the Moon on Friday will be opposing Saturn throughout the entire day. The Moon in an opposition with Saturn is always a recipe for delays, blockages, slowing down, contention in relationships and strife with elders. The Moon makes us very aware of the limits, constraints, and barriers that prevent us from moving forward with things in relationships and partnerships, since the Moon is moving from Venus to Saturn. Friday can be a somber, serious, and sober day. Not much of a fun day. Moving forward from here the Moon will be applying towards a square with Mars and being burned up by the Sun. It feels very hot and inflamed, especially in our nervous system (Virgo → Mercury).
Saturday, Aug 27th
[12:33 AM ET] Venus in Leo square Uranus Retrograde at 18º55’ Taurus
[1:27 AM ET] The Sun in Virgo square Mars at 03º56’ Gemini
[4:11 AM ET] The Moon in Virgo square Mars at 04º00’ Gemini
[4:17 AM ET] LUNATION: The Moon conjoins the Sun at 04º03’ Virgo
On Saturday, we have our main event for the week which is the New Moon in Virgo. This happens on the same exact day that the Sun and Mars square off. This marks a really important moment in Mars’ Synodic cycle, since whenever it squares the Sun it will start to get slower and eventually station Retrograde at the trine. The Sun highlights major conflict and challenges in the house Gemini and Virgo rule in your chart. Mars shows us what topic we will need to take more urgency, spur action, and have an extended focus on. However, not only the Sun is squaring Mars, but so is the Moon too— the Lunation is squared Mars. So it definitely feels very fiery brings a lot of tension. New Moon’s are typically a time where seeds are planted and things are put to rest, and you’ll find things being put to a rest in the house Virgo rules kind of forcibly by the house Gemini rules due to Mars. Mars as a malefic shows things that are less harmful or conducive to life, and Mars especially harms when it makes a square to planets. Being in the overcoming positions shows how issues of Mars are the dominating factor that results in things needing to be put to rest. Mars can show stress, inflammation, anger, frustration, conflict, aggression, friction, and for this New Moon there is lots of that. Be sure to watch out for this to occur particularly in how you communicate or share information since Mercury is the ruler of both the Sun and Moon. There can be unexpected shake ups and disruptions in our relationships today since Venus squares Uranus, as the ruler of Mercury (the lord of the lunation). We find the need to make breakthroughs, changes, and sometimes this might mean severing ties and separating things since ultimately Mars is the star of the show. We feel the tremors of Mars start to rumble on this day.
Sunday, Aug 28th
[2:27 PM ET] Venus in Leo opposes Saturn Retrograde at 20º51’ Aquarius
[7:27 PM ET] The Moon in Virgo opposes Neptune Retrograde at 24º32’
On Sunday, Venus in Leo makes an opposition to Saturn, which highlights our needs to set boundaries, limits, and to pump the breaks on things in relationship matters. Saturn always keeps us very aware of those constraints, and when connected with Venus, our ability to attain our desires are in conflict with strength of restriction and barriers. This can bring a lot of seriousness to our social situations and make things somber. The Moon will opposes Neptune after which can make us feel confused, a little bit unbalanced, and it blurs the details that the Moon in Virgo is looking for. However, for most of this day, the Moon is waxing and now gaining more light. Emerging from the rays of the Sun, we’re ending the week feeling mentally renewed after there was some anxiety or information that may have inflamed our nervous system yesterday.
