Introduction
This week, we open this new lunation with the Moon visible and returning back to the evening sky, make sure to say high sometime after sunset during the next 2 weeks. A lot of planets change signs on Tuesday. Mars enters Taurus, the sign where it is Exiled in, Mercury leaves its home in Gemini and enters Cancer, and the Moon enters Libra in the middle of the week seeking to even the playing field and bring balance where it has been lacking. The abundance of cardinal energy in the middle of the week is really good for starting new things and getting an extra boost of energy to get things done quickly. Cardinal signs initiate and pick of the pace of things. Towards the later part of the week, the Moon enters Scorpio with the South Node, and ruled by an exiled Mars, making us feel really cranky, downcast, somber, and physically weak. We find ourselves feeling really emo, needing to cry, and release all of the pain we have been withholding. Communication becomes a big theme this week, especially themes around honesty and trust when Mercury squares Jupiter on Saturday. This is a theme that will be building once Mercury enters Cancer on Tuesday. This week really opens up and activates what seeds were planted on June 28th with the Lunar Cazimi in Cancer, and the Sun square Jupiter. The Moon will be bringing to light what has been done in the dark, where limits and boundaries have been stretched passed. Jupiter square the Sun does mean Jupiter will start moving slower in the sky, getting ready to station Retrograde at the end of the month, so this is really an introduction to re-examining some of the expansion and removal of limitations Jupiter has done in the house Aries rules in your chart, and maybe where our faith or trust becomes stagnant, like Jupiter. We are at a crossroads at the week, quite literally a T-square, with the Sun at the Center. We must be introspective this week and talk about the pain. Justice and balance are big themes this week. This Moon in Libra is really taking center stage. This will be our buildup to next week with the Full Moon.
Monday, July 4th
[9:03 AM ET] The Moon in Virgo sextile the Sun at 12º33' Cancer
[11:37 AM ET] The Moon in Virgo square Venus at 13º52' Gemini
Monday is an interesting day because the Moon in Virgo is going to be a beautiful crescent representing opening and awareness of new events going on for this lunation cycle, since the Moon and the Sun are first witnessing each other since their conjunction on the 28th. The Moon has to contend with a square to Venus in Gemini, which shows challenges with relationships, diplomacy, social situations. The Moon and Venus give us opportunities to come together and socialize, but there is tension. The Moon in Virgo gives us one last day to enjoy Mercury in Gemini, get all the details in order, do something with the knowledge we have, and practice discernment.
Tuesday, July 5th
[2:03 AM ET] INGRESS: Mars enters Taurus
[2:25 AM ET] INGRESS: Mercury enters Cancer
[2:26 AM ET] Mercury in Cancer sextile Mars at 00º00' Taurus
[9:45 AM ET] The Moon in Virgo opposes Neptune at 25º25' Pisces
[6:24 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Libra
[9:20 PM ET] The Moon in Libra square Mercury at 01º33' Cancer.
Tuesday is an important day for this month, because both Mars and Mercury are changing signs today. Mars changing signs sets the tone for the next 2 months, whereas Mercury will be taking a short dip through Cancer this time around. Mars will transition from being in the sign of its domicile to the sign of its exile. Mars typically represents our vitality, vigor, energy, action, and putting things into motion, and in Aries, Mars is able to do this with more consistency in resources to act with urgency, swiftness, and force. When Mars enters Taurus, Mars finds more challenging in its ability to bring about the things it represents. Mars is in an environment where it will need to slow down, practice more patience, and think of the end game. Mars will find itself stagnant, in a state of inertia, but also having to learn how to sustain energy. For some, this can be a period of burnout and needing to not engage in the Mars thing, which is doing and being active, and for others, this may talk about needing to think long term about issues around sustainable labor and effort. When planets are in the sign of their exile, the qualities that they represent are outcasted and quite literally, exiled. In Taurus, a sign ruled by Venus, the values that are upheld center around stability, security, nourishment, and united, but Mars brings issues with sustainability here. In many ways, these next 2 months can feel slow and exhaustive because of Mars’ dignity shift. This can also call into question the value of your work and efforts, and whether that is being reciprocated. Mars in Taurus wants the work that is being done to actually be enjoyable, to be fun, to have a sense of purpose and to ultimately be valued. Mars will also encounter an overcoming square from Saturn, imposing limitations, restrictions, and regulations on what Mars can or cannot do. Mars won’t get too happy about that by Aug 1st and Aug 7th. However, to kick off the transit, Mercury will leave its home sign of Gemini too, and enter into Cancer. Now Mercury isn’t exiled in Cancer, but this is a dignity shift for Hermes too. Mercury will go from the mutable air sign Gemini to the Cardinal Water sign Cancer, where Mercury wants us to communicate our feelings more. We may feel a little stressed or overwhelmed with Mercury’s transit through Cancer this time around because, for most of the transit, Mercury will be underneath the beams of the Sun, and eventually combust, until July 16th when Hermes conjoins the Sun. Typically when Mercury is combust, this can show our nervous system being overwhelmed and weakened, since the rays of the Sun blunt the power of Mercury, however this conjunction to the Sun is important, because Mercury is having a rebirth moment, and in the sign of Cancer, it is a rebirth with understanding what it is that keeps us nourished, supported, and protected. Mercury in a way, will be taking the information it gathers from Mars and Jupiter (as it will make aspects to both of them in this transit) and be transmitting it to the Sun. Today though, Mercury will make a sextile to Mars, which shows the opening of their cycle that began on Aug 18th, 2021 when they conjoined each other. This sextile marks the beginning of events these planet’s cycle with each other will bring, but it also indicates that circumstances around Mercury and Mars have changed because their sextile was applying in Gemini and Aries, and typically when Mercury is with the malefic planet, Mercury is more of a trouble-maker and seeks to rile people up with their speech, so their sextile actually is the opening of information that could rile people up, get people to share their feelings, and express their dissatisfaction. Mercury and Mars together gives us a reason to yell and to scream. Mercury gets a megaphone from Mars, and they’re screaming together. Sounds like a good day for a protest. The theme is especially about justice and fairness since the Moon enters Libra and then squares Mercury in Cancer. It’s interesting because in this configuration for the day, Mercury is technically collecting the light from both Mars and the Moon, but both the Moon and Mars are not in any aspect to each other. Mercury goes from talking and sharing information to being much more receptive and intaking the grievances of the Moon in Libra, and Mars in Exile, both planets are ruled by Venus, and Mercury is also ruled by Venus. Now that Mercury has entered Cancer, it means that Venus cannot directly ask Mercury for help to smoothen the environment of Gemini, almost as if the messenger has disappeared, since Mercury is entering into the Sun’s Beams. Venus seeks to bring unity and harmony in Gemini, which influences our social situations and communication, but Venus will find this increasingly difficult to be able to hold capacity for everyone. We may feel overloaded, stressed, and having a lot of tasks to juggle. The cardinal energy picks up the pace of things briefly, and gives us more direction.
Wednesday, July 6th
[9:12 AM ET] The Moon in Libra opposes Jupiter at 07º54' Aries
[10:14 PM ET] The Moon in Libra square the Sun at 14º59' Cancer
On Wednesday, the Moon in Libra will make an opposition to Jupiter, which brings contention in our faith, trust, and honesty. Things have changed in the Cardinal Signs since Mars has left Taurus, which means that some of the stress the cardinal rising signs felt with Mars in Aries will start to alleviate because the Moon will no long be opposing Mars in this sign. The opposition to Jupiter looks softer than it typically has, however, the Moon will still be in a conflicting aspect with Jupiter. The Moon makes a square to the Sun today, which highlights the square that took place on June 28th at the Lunar Cazimi. Jupiter in the overcoming square to the Sun represents things that have been pushed past a limit, or lack of limitations that creates challenges and obstacles, kind of like a ballon that is about to pop, or a Supreme Court that has abused their power. The Moon in Libra challenges this Jupiter in Aries, who is now in a state of contention because Jupiter is ruled by Mars in Taurus now. Mars has kind of come through and corrupted the things that Jupiter represents, faith, trust, justice, law, through the abuse of power, force, and hard-heartedness, which Mars is great at doing in Aries, and now Jupiter is responding to a Mars who is being exiled for those actions in Taurus. The Sun and Moon bring our mind and body into conflict with each other. This T-Square in the Cardinal signs pulls us in many different directions. Aries weighs heavily on Cancer, showcasing the urgency for action and the Ram pushing the Crab out of its comfort zone, and the Sun in the Crab overcomes the Moon in the Scales, who also has to opposes the Ram. The Moon is waxing in light here though, so in a sense, where the Spring/Summer Cardinal Signs have drawn attention the ego and centralizing attention, since the Sun is growing in light here in the N.H, and Libra (and Capricorn) represent when the length of night is increasing, and the ego and will is decreasing. Libra is a sign that deals with the law, so we may see important legal related topics come up today, needing to compromise, reconcile, and bring peace. The Moon in Libra DEMANDS justice, DEMANDS peace, and as the Moon waxing grows more confident, so does her demands. Libra shows Aries and Cancer that they WILL need to compromise on their values, Libra is always good at being the mediator. Staying stubborn will not work in your favor today.
Thursday, July 7th
[1:53 AM ET] The Moon in Libra trine Venus at 16º59' Gemini
[3:17 PM ET] The Moon in Libra trine Saturn at 24º24' Aquarius
[9:03 PM ET] The Moon in Libra square Pluto at 27º38' Capricorn
Thursday chills things out once the Moon starts applying to a trine to Venus. The Moon’s objective is to grow and bring more balance, where it has been recently lacking, and the Moon is ruled by Venus in Gemini (which is very interesting to think about how Venusians may simultaneously be juggling two different situations in their life right now, Mars and the Moon), who needs to bring about fairness and equilibrium through conversation, communication, and dialogue with Gemini. This looks like a great time for hanging out with friends, learning from conversation, finding compromise. Venus in the overcoming position is always great for the Moon, it signifies laughter, love, signing, dancing, and artistic events. The Moon will then make a trine to Saturn Retrograde, and this Grand Air trine looks like really bringing a lot of conversation together about justice, order, and what is fair. Venus in Gemini adds the smoothness in speak and conversation, the Moon in Libra gives fair but fierce disposition to fight its opponents (next is the square to Pluto), and Saturn gives willingness to restructure and revise foundations and ancient things as Saturn is the exaltation lord of Libra. The Moon will trine both its domicile and exaltation lord, Venus & Saturn as the two planets representing Libra. The Moon receives assistance from both of its rulers to be able to administer justice. We may see some level of evening of the playing field so to speak in the house Libra rules in your chart, but this is just the beginning. The Moon will square Pluto on its way out of Libra which really looks like the scales being unable to budge when they’re being unfairly weighed in one direction. Unfair power dynamics in relationships and diplomacy can arise and people might start acting weird and obsessive. Theres a lot of harmony between the air signs today though, it gets us talking and the Air houses in our chart active.
Friday, July 8th
[1:15 AM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Scorpio
[5:06 AM ET] The Moon in Scorpio opposes Mars at 02º10' Taurus
[1:31 PM ET] The Moon in Scorpio trine Mercury at 06º59' Cancer
The Moon will enter Scorpio early in the Morning ET on Friday, where the Moon will enter into the sign of her Depression, seeking nourishment and care, but faced with the decay and death of Scorpio. The Moon in the sign of its depression indicates challenges with the body, health, feeling taken care of, feeling deprived, and physically exhausted. The Moon is the body and it encapsulates all spirit (the Sun) into physical form. The Moon in Scorpio will find it in an opposition to Mars who is in the sign of its exile. This contention between the Moon and her ruler showcases that issues around comfort, nourishment, consistency, and stability in resource in the house Taurus is ruled are being disrupted by Mars, and as a result, the Moon shows how our health and physical suffer as a result. The Moon is being worked against by Mars because Mars is destroying the Moon’s exaltation (Taurus). We may see fights, conflict, confrontation, arguments, issues around possession and ownership. The Moon makes a trine to Cancer, and it gives us an opportunity to speak about the pain we have felt. The Moon is able to bring more clarity and understanding to the house Scorpio rules in your chart, especially because the Sun will also make a trine to the Moon tomorrow. The planets in Cancer, the Sun and Mercury, will feel this dignity shift of the Moon being in its Depression because it really highlights how we also feel under supported in our voice being heard, and our needs being met. The trine between the Moon & Mercury + the Sun gives us an opportunity to communicate how we feel through mediums other than speaking. The ancient astrologer tend to associate the Water signs with being “mute”, as in not speaking or not verbally communicating. It seems like a crying session. There is reception though, which allows for forgiveness and sympathy. This weekend looks like a time for crying though. Expect it to be kind of emo, a little somber, and less airy than the past few days have been. It’s kind of interesting how the vibe switches from all
Saturday, July 9th
[2:13 AM ET] Mercury in Cancer square Jupiter at 08º05' Aries
[7:10 AM ET] The Moon in Scorpio trine the Sun at 17º14' Cancer
[8:34 AM ET] The Moon in Scorpio opposes Uranus at 18º04' Taurus
[7:04 PM ET] The Moon in Scorpio square Saturn Retrograde at 24º17' Aquarius
Over the weekend, Mercury squares Jupiter, which is something that has been building up since Mercury entered Cancer at the beginning of the week. Mercury squaring Jupiter talks about having to speak the truth. Jupiter is the planet of truth and honesty, and Mercury has to communicate this tension of honesty with someone, since Mercury will be in a square with Jupiter. It can also indicate issues with the law through legal documents. In other instances, it can indicate that we have a MILLION things that we have on our mind, and an expansiveness of perspective. Jupiter expands the things that Mercury has to talk about and communicate. All of the emotions of anger, rage, frustration, hurt, but there is reception, compassion, and understanding because the Moon will then move to trine the Sun. I’ve also noticed that Mercury square Jupiter can be really good for studying, reading philosophy, learning, and achievement in scholarly matters, whether this looks like finding a knowledgeable book to read, or writing an important essay, Jupiter motivates us to REALLY communicate our feelings. The Moon will opposes Uranus which can bring disruption, volatility, and unexpected interruptions early in the AM ET. From that point forward, the Moon in Scorpio is kind of exhausted and wants things to be slow, especially since it will start applying to a square to Saturn. A somber mood persist through most of the day. We may feel exhausted, drained, lacking vitality, and energy and when the Moon finally squares Saturn, we find an opportunity to rest at the end of the day. #ITSBEENALONGDAY
Sunday, July 10th
[4:34 AM ET] INGRESS: The Moon has entered Sagittarius
[4:38 AM ET] The Sun in Cancer sextile Uranus at 18º05' Taurus
[6:02 PM ET] The Moon in Sagittarius trine Jupiter at 08º11' Aries
The Mood lightens a little on Sunday when the Moon enters the double bodied fire sign of Sagittarius, giving us more aim, direction, asking the big question and looking at the bigger picture. What is the vision? How can you share that vision with others. Jupiter is mutable fire— its fire that spreads and is dispersed as a mutable sign. The Moon will be applying to a trine to Jupiter in Aries all day, which brings celebration, friendship, trust, respect, and honesty. The Moon in Sagittarius wants to have a GOOD TIME! We may be especially called to focus on our health as the Moon will be in the 6th sign from its domicile (Sagittarius is the 6th sign from Cancer). This is a great opportunity for pursuing generosity, indulgence, pleasure, and spontaneity.
