Week 21: May 2023, Week 4 - The Week Ahead Horoscope

After Mars entered Leo last week, it makes a square to Jupiter in Taurus this week. The Sun also makes a square to Saturn in Pisces too. Lots of conflict and confrontation are abound.

Monday, May 22nd

[1:53 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer sextile Jupiter at 01º15’ Taurus

On Monday, the Moon will start off in Cancer, returning to her home sign. The Moon is currently in its waxing crescent phase, known as the New Moon where she is visible in the evening sky right after sunset. The beginning of the lunar month is quick a beginning we have a LOT of hectic aspects taking place this week. The Moon in a Phlegmatic sign may make us feel more relaxed, tired, and directionless going into Monday. The New Moon phase is said to be more sanguine, posessing heat and wetness. The heat gives us some extraverted activity, especially since the Moon is in the sign of the beginning of summer (Cancer being the Summer solsitice). She has a lot of strength in her wetness to help smoothen tension and soothe anxieties that the Gemini Moon brought. The Moon will be applying towards a bodily conjunction to Venus in Cancer, which goes exact tomorrow, but the prescense of a benefic in conjunction to the Moon offers joy, alleviation from sorrow, and laughter. This will be the larger influence at hand but the Moon connects with other planets before this occurs.

The Moon makes a sextile to Jupiter in Taurus to begin our day. This is a supportive connection since Jupiter affirms our beliefs, removes limitations, and brings more optimism into our day. Jupiter brings a slight earthier tone to today, especially because the Moon is in a water sign which is cold, there is less activity and more contraction, being to ourselves, and introverted behavior today. The Moon will also make a trine to Saturn which further adds to feelings of somberness, slowness, and inertia. The abundance of cold in the planets keeps the energy to ourselves rather than releasing it. The Moon will connect with Mercury afterwards, delivering us news, information, and lots of conversation later in the day. It stimulates our mind, encourages us to study, read, and learn.

Additionally, The Sun and Mars sextile each other today which is an important connection that defines this week. The Sun in Gemini is faster than Mars, so it is making the connection to Mars. This interaction of the Sun and Mars in agreement, but specifically in the Air and Fire signs, it stirs up lots of fire, energy, and verbal hostility as this is the energies of Mercury, Mars, and the Sun we’re talking about. Expect this to be felt the most on Monday, but also throughout the entire week. This aspect can embolden our hearts to be audacious and confrontational, rile us up, and spur enmity and have people battling their egos against each other. The weapon of words is a double-edged sword. The Sun moving forward will make a square to Saturn as its next aspect, and by this definition, the Sun will be besieged throughout the entire week. A planet who is besieged is said to be a planet who is coming from something challenging and moving towards something challenging. There is an emphasis on being stuck between a rock and a hard place, along with the feelings of frustration, stress, and anxiety that come from having your efforts thwarted. The Sun is the planet of confidence, leadership, and it shines light to bring clarity of knowledge, but besieged, there may be doubts, anxieties, and lack of confidence that can be felt this week.

Tuesday, May 23rd

(1:12 AM ET) Mars in Leo square Jupiter at 01º28’ Taurus

[8:45 AM ET] The Moon conjoins Venus at 17º01’ Cancer

On Tuesday, the Moon will conjoin Venus signifying a helpful & supportive interaction since the Venus is connecting with her domicile lord (the Moon). Together these planets can bring love, relationships, pleasures and romance into our lives. In other instances, it is great for artistic and creative endeavors. If you’re looking to make peace, form friendship, and find laughter/joy, this conjunction brings it early in the morning. The Moon and Venus together should restore some harmony to the house Cancer rules in your chart after Mars has been through here bringing chaos since late March. In other news, the Moon will then be void for the entire day, since it will separate from Venus and not connect with any other planet. Don’t expect to get too much done, to have much energy, or motivation to do work. Venus is a planet of leisure, relaxing, and not doing hard labor or work. Take the time to rest and enjoy things that bring you relaxation today. Also, the Moon will conjoin her Apogee so she is REALLY slow during the next few days. Don’t expect it to be a speedy week, especially when Ms. Luna is taking her sweet time moving through Cancer/Leo.

In the background of the Lunar transits for the day, Mars will officially be making a square to Jupiter. Jupiter is in whats called the overcoming position (being in the 10th sign from Mars) so Jupiter has the ability to dominate and impose its influence over the situation. Usually Mars/Jupiter aspects show challenges with trust, honesty, and oaths. Whereas Jupiter is the planet that takes oaths and swears by them, Mars is the planet who breaks them and transgresses past the agreements that Jupiter creates. There can be a lot of tension with what is considered just, moral, or ethical due to situations that arise through an overreach of power, abuse of power, and trangression of the law. That seems to be the biggest theme of Mars/Jupiter so far. Abu Ma’shar mentions that if Mars and Jupiter are square, it indicates “If it is in quartile and it is in the fourth place, this indicates plenty of propagandists, strife, overwhelming, and thieves, and that they do this in mystery and secret”. Propaganda is often a Mars/Jupiter topics but its interesting to see the arrangement of this in secret since Mars is in the 4th house from Jupiter. Abu Ma’shar confirms this theme of strife and conflict, specifically legal contention due to Jupiter’s influence. It is interesting to see the condition of both Mars and Jupiter, because neither really have any essential dignity at the parts of the zodiac they are at. Jupiter and Mars are peregrine, which can be akin to strangers fighting against each other, especially because the aspect between these planets is a square. These planets together are the cause of long term strife for the week and even next week as these two planets move a lot slower. Their square was building when Mars was in Gemini and Jupiter in Pisces in November 2022, but that aspect is just going exact now. Think back to what issues with oaths, agreements, and trust were going on back then that may be relevant now.

Wednesday, May 24th

On Wednesday, the Moon will enter Leo after being void in Cancer for a while, shifting the vibe towards increasing HEAT as the Moon enters a Fire Sign. This is further supported with Mars situated there too. Their conjunction will take place today, and it is the most dominate influence that can be felt throughout the day since it is the uniting of these planets in the sky. The fire of Mars is raging and burning bright with illumination from the Moon. Mars is the planet of slander, lies, conflict, confrontation, yelling, screaming, frustrations, hatred, and injury. Be careful of physically injury on this day. There may be more bold and public demonstration of disruptive, shocking, and divisive news today. Contesting willpower, challenging egos, and sizing people up is the theme today. The Moon will be applying to Mars all day so this irritating and fricative feeling will last all day until Mars separates. The Moon will also square Jupiter which highlights the connection between Mars and Jupiter that went exact yesterday. After the Moon conjoins Mars, it will separate and move towards a sextile to the Sun. Seeking knowledge, affirmation, and public recognition can be found on this day, but not for all the right reasons. Mars brings anger, sudden disruptions, and opportunities to take action, act on urgency, and be swift. This is probably one of the rougher days of the week.

Thursday, May 25th

[6:11 AM ET] The Moon in Leo square Mercury at 09º45’ Taurus

On Thursday, after the Moon sextiles the Sun and conjoins Mars it will square Mercury in Taurus. The Moon is moving VERY slow by this point since she is still at her Apogee, but the square to Mercury can bring a lot of mental stress, anxiety, and feeling mentally scattered. The square is a hard aspect so this indicates there might be discrepancies, incorrectness in data, and slow resolutions afoot. However, this is also a good aspect for learning, studying, writing, and reading. The influence of Mercury allows us to use our words to communicate how we want to be seen, acknowledge, and heard. The Moon is also kind of bringing some of the influence of Mars over to Mercury, since they are in a whole sign square with each other right now. This aspect really does emphasize harmful language, hurtful words, gossip, slander, and lies. Take your information with a grain of salt, check your facts, and acknowledge whether you’re looking to fight to make your ego look bigger or because you’re concerned about information. Its all easy to make things big and showy, but Mercury reminds us to keep our head on straight while we may feel overHEATED (by Beyoncè). After this, the Moon will go through ANOTHER phase of being void, where she will not connect with any other planets for the rest of 1) the day and 2) while she’s in this sign. Don’t expect much to happen or much progress to be attained as the Moon will be pretty void for more than 24 hours (somewhere around 44-45 hours). People think every moment has a purpose to do something but Void Moons gives us time to acknowledge we cannot always continue to work or exert energy, and that we need to rest and take time to do things that fulfill and restore us with more energy. Especially since the Moon is gaining light. Sometimes when Void Moons occur, plans don’t fall through, people reschedule, or cancel things. The Moon’s aspects show action and events happening, but if she doesn’t aspect planets, no action is taken place— at a standstill.

Friday, May 26th

The only aspect for the day is that the Moon will enter Virgo towards the end of the day. The Moon will be transiting through Leo for most of the day and will still be Void. Head the advice that was given for Friday.

Saturday, May 27th

On Saturday, the Moon will enter Virgo moving into a Mutable sign, which brings lots of fluctuations, changes, and instability in our moods throughout the day. The Moon makes a really beautiful trine to Jupiter in Taurus to start off the day, which offers feelings of optimism, liberation, freedom, knowledge, and wisdom to start off the day. However, this is short lived as the Moon makes a square to the Sun and then an opposition to Saturn. The Moon is highlighting the ongoing square between these planets that has been building all week and brings it to an important climax this weekend. The square to the Sun shows issues with authorities, rulers, and conflict that arises, but the opposition to Saturn show simultaneous restrictions, limitations, and delays that are encounter today. There can be a lot of confusion, uncertainty, and hostility that is in the air this weekend due to the hard aspects of the Sun and Saturn. Saturn is in the overcoming position to the Sun and is standing in equal contention to the Moon, which places restrictions, limitations, and binds up action for both the people (the Moon) and the ruler (the Sun). Saturn can bring issues of rejection, uncertainty, and confusion as it maltreats both of the lights. Saturn makes us aware of burdens, things that weigh heavy in our heart, and what endures. It also makes us inert and lacking action, as Saturn is a planet who delays and creates sluggishness. This uncertainty and inaction should start to alleviate as the opposition seperates and as the Moon makes a trine to its domicile lord, Mercury in Taurus. I think this aspect is really nice especially since Mercury is in the 9th from the Moon, the house of knowledge, this is supportive for writing, diving, astrology, and translation of divine messages. If you’re seeking knowledge, today is a great day to engage in that process, in studying, learning, and divining. The vibe will start to settle down and nerves wane as the Moon will be applying to Venus tomorrow. Venus in Cancer gives more smoothness and flexibility to the rigidity of Saturn and the Virgo Moon. There will be a calming and soothing influence that roles in.

Sunday, May 28th

(6:46 AM ET) Sun in Gemini square Saturn at 06º52’ Pisces

[8:19 PM ET] The Moon in Virgo sextile Venus at 22º36’ Cancer

On Sunday, the square between the Sun and Saturn will go exact. I’d argue that this influence is especially felt on Saturday. Its a very serious vibe. Serious conversations seem to be the theme with the Virgo Moon. Saturn wants to discuss the limits. The Moon is moving away from Saturn and towards Venus, which is supportive because Venus has the ability to mediate, unify, and bring harmony to our lives on Sunday. It’s a lazy sunday, tbh. As I said earlier, Venus brings leisure when in aspect with the Moon, she wants us to RELAXXXX, and the Moon is still kind of slow at this time, but increasing in speed so there is more momentum for action that can be built here. It’s good for artistic and creative matters. Venus brings compromise, but because the Moon is in Venus’ Fall, it might not be something that is favored, but compromise is found. There’s a LOT of fluctuating energy with Cancer and Virgo since they’re both the signs of Mercury and the Moon and they change very fast. This Sun/Saturn square really defines the weekend and serious, looming, or even depressing truths culminate in our lives. We become aware of our burdens, the limitations, and blockages that are in our path. They aren’t things that are quick and happen fast because Saturn slows everything down. Whereas Mars is immediate and quick disruptions, Saturn is chronic and enduring challenges. A new understanding of what the challenges Saturn in Pisces brings to the sign of Gemini (educators, journalist, books, information, press) for the next 2 years. This square will be felt from Saturn in the overcoming position every Gemini season until 2026. So keep an eye out for what house Gemini rules in your chart because Saturn will start to show some of its challenges now that it is in a hard aspect to the Sun. By this time, Saturn is actually going to significantly slow down and is getting ready to station Retrograde by June 18th. The square is always a challenge, delay, and slowing of events that happens between the Exterior planets and the Sun that causes long term delays throughout the Retrograde period. Take a look at the house Pisces rules in your chart as well, this will provide information on which part of your chart this is effecting the most since Saturn is transiting through here.
