Monday, May 16th
{12:14 AM ET} ECLIPSE: Lunar Eclipse at 25º18’ Scorpio
{7:50 AM ET} INGRESS: The Moon enters Sagittarius
[9:33 AM ET] The Moon in Sagittarius trines Jupiter at 01º03’ Aries
[1:18 PM ET] The Moon in Sagittarius opposes Mercury at 03º23’ Gemini
We start off our week with a bang, and it is the Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio. Some of y’all may have felt the energy of this Eclipse building up last week, but the release of that energy comes in this week. I’ve written a nice thread to give an overview of what to expect for this transit in the larger scheme of this Eclipse cycle.

I highlighted in this thread how challenging this Eclipse can be. The Moon is not in a position of support here, and I think it is definitely a wake up call to see what pain accumulates as a result of neglect in the house Scorpio rules in this chart. This Eclipse gives us a moment to be fully aware of it and because Lunar Eclipses are Full Moon’s: release it. There is a level of urgency towards tending to the wounds found in the house that Scorpio rules, I mean— imagine trying to hide that you broke your leg? How does fear of trust & vulnerability prevent you from being able to express and release the pain you’ve endured?
A friend and colleague, Daniel_The_Lion on Twitter quote tweeted my thread with a brilliant spoon of honey to the bitterness that can come with this Eclipse. Please give it a read because it helps provide insight even towards today’s astrology!

The Moon is not in the best of conditions for today, and it is reflected in our moods, situations, and attitudes on Monday. There seems to be this notion that we need to be in perfect condition and attitude all the time— as if the aspiration is to get to eternal happiness. I am very Saturnian about a lot of things and I feel like happiness is not meant to be permanent, and it is okay for us to not feel like our social, emotional, and physical battery is fully charged. This notion that we need to be in the best of conditions physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually at all times is a byproduct of capitalism so you can be an efficient worker, if you’re healthy, abled, and not crippling with exhaustion, but for most of us (and what is realistic) we are not like this, and having these moments of weakness and exhaustion is just a part of being human and of life. You can give yourself grace for not feeling good, and that is perfectly okay. This is the day to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. However, that will not last completely since the Moon will enters Sagittarius, leaving the sign of her exile, seeking truth, perspective, and more insight as to the pain that has been revealed. Luckily, the Moon in Jupiter’s sign will make a beautiful trine to Jupiter early in the morning ET. Sagittarius Moon transits will be filled with a lot more enthusiasm and pursuit of spiritual contentment since the Moon will trine Jupiter instead of squaring it. The Moon is seeking truth, trust, and finds it, however it is in contradiction with previous information, since the Moon will oppose Mercury Retrograde right after. The Moon opposing Mercury brings conflict of information, arguments, debates, there are things we need to question and take another look at, after receiving the truth and another perspective. What starts out as a day where we feel malnourished, will end will clarity, revision, introspection, and insight. This theme will carry through into the week.
I wanted to share some other tweets on the Lunar Eclipse from some friends and colleagues that I found really insightful and I think you should also give a read! Also here is the link to see if you can see the Eclipse in your location: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/lunar/2022-may-16

Tuesday, May 17th
[11:30 AM ET] The Moon in Sagittarius trines Venus at 17º12’ Aries
[11:51 PM ET] The Moon in Sagittarius squares Mars at 24º54’ Pisces
[11:59 PM ET] The Moon in Sagittarius squares Neptune at 24º59’ Pisces
[11:59 PM ET] The Moon in Sagittarius sextile Saturn at 24º59’ Aquarius
As we move into Tuesday, the Moon in Sagittarius has some obstacles to encounter. After she gains clarity and support from Jupiter in Aries to be honest about the self, identity, and seeking to examine quality of character and identity— she then makes a trine to Venus, which can be exciting, energizing, and an opportunity for Venus to express her discomfort with her current situation in Aries. The Moon in Sagittarius is trying to see the full scope of the situation, making agreements with Venus, and challenging Mars in Pisces. The Moon squaring Mars brings conflict and fights on Tuesday night, into Wednesday morning. Fights can occur as a result of confusion or blurriness in perspective. Neptune tends to do that, and especially since Mars is on track to conjoin Neptune. Tuesday and Wednesday feels like we’re trying to straddle the line between truth and reality. Neptune blurs the lines of reality and makes things foggy, while Saturn seeks clear definition and boundaries. It can be easy to blow things out of proportion with the Moon in Sagittarius squaring Mars, especially since there is no reception between these planets, conflict comes from difference in perspective, having the truth be distorted and twisted. Fights that happen when Jupiter and Mars involved represents zealousness to engage in conflict and escalate things. Ask yourself the purpose for needing to take an argument further.
Wednesday, May 18th
[2:33 AM ET] Mars conjoins Neptune at 24º59’ Pisces
{8:01 AM ET} INGRESS: The Moon enters Capricorn
[10:21 AM ET] The Moon in Capricorn squares Jupiter at 01º26’ Aries
On Wednesday Mars conjoins Neptune, and when planets are with Neptune it brings confusion, distortion, illusion, and lines of reality are blurred. Mars likes to take action and be direct, but Mars may not know what it’s getting itself into by conjoining Neptune. Mars gets confused when with Neptune, whether it be by the opposition, square, or conjunction. Do you know exactly what you’re fighting for? Do you know exactly what you’re defending? There are doubts where one’s efforts lie especially since the Moon will square Jupiter today. This is the time to think about if your intentions lie in the same place as your actions, and the impact that will have on others. There is a lot of dryness between Aries and Capricorn, so expect today to also be a fricative day since Fire and Earth signs are both dry and abrasive in nature. Mars is taking the wheel on Wednesday.
Thursday, May 19th
[8:10 AM ET] The Sun in Taurus trines Pluto at 28º30’ Capricorn
[4:01 PM ET] The Moon in Capricorn squares Venus at 19º45’ Aries
[9:32 PM ET] Mercury Retrograde in Gemini sextiles Jupiter at 01º42’ Aries
On Thursday, Mercury makes a sextile to Jupiter for the second out of three times, which (what I have talked about on Twitter) seems like Mercury is trying to establish networks of communication between Jupiter and Mars even though both planets are not aspected to each other, Mercury is working as an intermediary, playing telephone. The Moon squares Venus today and Abū Sa’īd Shādhān says in the Discourses on the Secrets of Astrology with Abu Ma’shar (translated by the Horoi Project) that when the Moon is overcoming Venus it indicates “secret intercourses become public, and also indicates the subsequent shame and infamy”. Especially since Venus is not in a supported condition today, this can show conflict and apathy in relationships with other people.
Friday, May 20th
[3:06 AM ET] The Moon in Capricorn sextile Mars at 26º30’ Pisces
[6:23 AM ET] The Moon conjoins Pluto at 28º30’ Capricorn
[7:59 AM ET] The Moon in Capricorn trines the Sun at 29º27’ Taurus
{8:52 AM ET} INGRESS: The Moon enters Aquarius
[11:11 AM ET] The Moon in Aquarius trines Mercury at 01º23’ Gemini
[11:53 AM ET] The Moon in Aquarius sextiles Jupiter at 01º48’
{9:22 PM ET} INGRESS: The Sun enters Gemini
On Friday, it’s going to be one of our business days but also a day of clarity. The Moon will make supportive aspects to both Mars and the Sun, two energizing and vitalizing forces, creating excitement, passion, and enthusiasm to be courageous and take initiative. When the Moon trines the Sun after the Full Moon, I consider this to be a phase analogous to picking the fruit off of trees. It’s almost as if our Eclipse events become realized by this weekend. Expect your sleeping patterns to be off waking up early in the morning though, the Moon will conjoin Pluto and I’ve definitely seen this show up as weird dreams, disturbances in your sleep, and sometimes just weird thoughts coming up from the underworld. Keep that in mind when you go to bed on Thursday night. Both the Sun and Moon enter Air Signs this weekend, making it a time where we are more social, curious, open and receptive to going with the flow. This brings an important elemental change since we’ll have the conversation and curiosity fanning the flames of Jupiter and Venus in Aries. The Moon makes a trine to Mercury Retrograde today, which can talk about receiving some news about a revision, change of plans, a potential delay, but it doesn’t look all too bad. The Moon will also make a sextile to Jupiter in Aries which looks like receiving support from a friend and feeling happy. Luckily it’s the last aspect of the Moon for the day, so things end off on a happy note. This Moon in Aquarius is going to be relatively important though because it is a Fixed Moon, and where the Leo Moon showed increase in tension and buildup to the Lunar Eclipse, the Aquarius Moon shows the release of that tension from the Lunar Eclipse. We’ll talk more about that tomorrow, but today the Sun enters Gemini, which is a really nice change of pace after the Sun traversed through Taurus. We’re actually going to have a NORMAL Gemini Season now, since the North & South Node have left this sign. We haven’t had a normal Gemini Season since 2019 (and even then it was the Sun + Mars opposing Jupiter in Sag), but now we kind of get to enjoy it. Gemini is filled with curiosity, contradiction, love of games, discourse, memory, and conversation. The Sun entering Gemini gives us a really nice opportunity to freshen our perspective without confusion regarding the house that Gemini rules in your chart. Gemini becomes an important sign this year because of the Mercury Retrograde, but also because of the Mars Retrograde in Gemini (8-25º Gemini) later this year. Eventually Venus and Mercury will both rejoin the party and bring some much needed delight to this house. Gemini Season puts the Mercury Retrograde into the spotlight since the ruler of the Sun (Mercury) will be exploring and revisiting events from the Eclipse while in Taurus.
Saturday, May 21st
[11:15 AM ET] The Moon in Aquarius squares Uranus at 15º43’ Taurus
{3:17 PM ET} SYNODIC CYCLE: Mercury Cazimi (Mercury conjoins the Heart of the Sun) at 00º00’ Gemini
[10:40 PM ET] The Moon in Aquarius sextiles Venus at 22º24’ Aries
As we move into Saturday, the main event for today is the Mercury Cazimi (In Arabic, كازيمي; in ancient Greek, egkardios (ἐγκάρδιος)) which refers to when a planet conjoins the Sun. It is a special type of conjunction since when planets conjoin the Sun they’re 1) starting a new cycle and/or 2) changing phases. Planets that are in the heart of the sun are said to be strengthened and to be empowered by the Sun, almost as if they were being reborn and revitalized with new energy. Conjunctions with the Sun are renewal points for that planet conjoining the Sun, but in Astrology, the Sun is our spirit, which was conceptualized as the conscious and animated part of ourselves, so when planets get closer to the Sun, they represent a specific topic being brought closer to our consciousness and things that we’re currently focused on. With a Mercury Retrograde in Gemini conjoining the Sun, this is an empowering moment for Mercury, in their home sign while being fortified by the light of the Sun. It looks like a really nice moment of clarity and a moment where things start to make sense as a result of what’s come up for the Retrograde. It also marks the halfway point in Mercury’s Retrograde cycle (thank god), but now Mercury is going to spend this next half back in Taurus. In your own natal chart, you’ll be having moments of clarity surrounding the topics Gemini rules in your chart. Maybe you’ll be revisiting topics from January because the most recent planet to move through 0° Gemini was the North Node. This could also represent a moment of clarity surrounding the Solar Eclipse since Mercury was at 0° Gemini when the Eclipse went exact. The Moon will also sextile Venus today too, which looks enthusiastic and an opportunity to have fun, even if circumstances are not super familiar since the Moon and Venus don’t really have any reception with each other. This is a great time to journal, write, and clarify your understanding of anything that might be fuzzy. Today, Mercury is in our hearts.
Sunday, May 22nd
[3:19 AM ET] The Moon conjoins Saturn at 25º06’ Aquarius
{11:49 AM ET} INGRESS: The Moon enters Pisces
[12:12 PM ET] The Moon in Pisces squares Mercury at 00º12’ Gemini
[2:43 PM ET] The Moon in Pisces squares the Sun at 01º39’ Gemini
[6:15 PM ET] Mars in Pisces sextiles Pluto at 28º28’ Capricorn
{9:15 PM ET} INGRESS: Mercury Retrogrades into Taurus
As we move into Sun day, the Moon will conjoin Saturn early in the morning, and I actually deem this conjunction is being pretty important and marking the last pivotal moment of Eclipse Season. See, the Moon will conjoin Saturn for the last time while Saturn is direct. The next time the Moon is in Aquarius, Saturn will be Retrograde. So this Aquarius Moon transit hastens some important changes that will be coming to the house Aquarius rules in your chart, and bring up topics of revision that will eventually need to be looked at over the next few months while Saturn is Retrograde. There is some sort of somber realization with these topics since it is Saturnian in nature. Maybe you’re questioning the stability of things in the house Aquarius rules. The Moon will then enter Pisces where it will come to square the Sun and Mercury in Gemini. This looks like a day where we’re trying to seek some sort of wisdom and insight especially as the Moon enter’s Jupiter’s sign. This will actually be the first time that the Moon is visiting Pisces since Jupiter left, so these transits might feel extra fiery around this time. The Moon squaring Mercury maybe talks about being honest or telling someone the truth. This is a pivotal moment where the Moon is releasing light and letting go of it. There is a full culmination coming to the house Pisces rules in your chart. Both of the luminaries are in mutable signs, so it indicates our focus towards today is fluctuation, discourse, conversation, change, and a multitude of ideas. It can definitely be inspiration, but also mentally scattered and lack of focus. Expect today to be a chatty day! The vibe shifts though because Mercury re-enters Taurus, where it has some unfinished business looking at the topics that the house Taurus rules in your chart. The Moon being in a Water sign today definitely helps to balance out the elemental makeup of the sky currently, with mostly planets in Fire and Air signs, the Water helps to add compassion to the mix, receptivity, fluidity, and adaptability to the ever changes circumstances and push and pull of the tides of life.
