Introduction

Welcome to the week ahead forecast everyone. Monday is the last day of February and this week starts off March 2022. This week really opens up the beginning of this month, but also the beginning of a much longer situation that will eventually unfold throughout the next 2 years. This week we have another lunation, the New Moon in Pisces on Wednesday starting the new lunar month, we have Jupiter conjoining the Sun and starting a new synodic cycle on Saturday, and on Sunday, Venus and Mars enter Aquarius and conjoin for the second time, but this time in Aquarius instead of Capricorn like they previously did on February 16th. Mars will also get to the exaltation degree this week while conjoining Pluto, bring power, strength, ambition, boldness, and audacity to a climax. There’s a lot to unpack for this week, so let’s get into it.
For more information on a month ahead overview: I have a published article on my website. This post will be available soon, I’m still working on it but here is the URL for future reference.
Monday Feb 28th
(8:49 AM ET) The Moon in Aquarius square Uranus at 11º31’ Taurus
(5:11 PM ET) The Moon conjoins Mercury at 16º31’ Aquarius
(9:01 PM ET) The Moon conjoins Saturn at 18º48’ Aquarius
We start off our week with the Moon transiting through the Sign of Aquarius and it conjoins Mercury and Saturn within 4 hours of each other. The tone of our conversations becomes much more serious, but we are also incredibly chatty as well. When Mercury and the Moon come together, these are the two messengers, and they’re on the same page talking about Saturn, rules, regulations, blockages, delays. Both Mercury and the Moon hasten to whatever boundaries and restrictions Saturn is trying to establish. The thing about Saturn is that it is getting closer to exactly square the nodes, so this could be something about restrictions, boundaries, etc. trying to be enforced but finding themselves being taken down (in the future). This conjunction comes as Saturn is making their appearance as a Morning Star visible before sun rise. There is a new responsibility or boundary or regulation by authority being set in place, potentially around news and speech. This will prompt people to respond in a somewhat disruptive way since the Moon is also squaring Uranus as well. The Moon will go void by the time it conjoins Saturn at 9:01 PM ET until Wednesday at 12:34 PM ET when it conjoins the Sun.
Tuesday March 1st
(3:53 PM ET) INGRESS: The Moon enters Pisces
When the Moon is first swimming through Pisces, she is bringing the previous month to an end and getting ready to start a new one. She goes dark on Tuesday, and this period of the next two days asks us to be reflective on where we find hope, inspiration, faith, trust, and gives us belief that our wishes will come to life? The Moon will be losing light which causes us to let go of something that once gave us hope or faith, and to expand our belief and horizon. The Moon is going to have quite a transit through Pisces so we may get a little calm before the storm on Tuesday. There are feelings of expressiveness, openness, needing for peace, balance, and tranquility.
Wednesday March 2nd
(12:05 AM ET) The Sun in Pisces sextile Uranus at 11º35’ Taurus
(11:32 AM ET) Mercury conjoins Saturn at 18º48’ Aquarius
(12:34 PM ET) LUNATION: New Moon at 12º06’ Pisces
(4:23 PM ET) The Moon conjoins Jupiter at 14º19’ Pisces
The action of this week really comes on Wednesday when Mercury conjoins Saturn at the beginning of the day. Mercury and Saturn are finally conjoining each other for actually the first time. If you remember back in January (around January 14th), Mercury was applying to a conjunction to Saturn but then Mercury stationed Retrograde before that aspect could go exact. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll remember I said that there was some agreement or document or message that was trying to be given to Saturn, but Mercury had to station Retrograde and bring up Pluto into the morning sky from the underworld in Capricorn, and that Mercury wouldn’t actually conjoin Saturn until… today! Yeah, well now that they’re conjoining Mercury has a message to deliver to Saturn, from Pluto, since that’s the last conjunction Mercury made to a planet. Mercury is known in Astrology for being neither malefic or benefic, and is an intermediary, but one of the things that is always mentioned about Mercury in ancient sources is that they are a benefic when conjoined with benefic planets (Venus and Jupiter) and a malefic when conjoined with malefic planets (Mars and Saturn), and since Mercury is conjoined to Saturn, we have to infer that this Mercury is here is malefic, and Mercury conjoining Saturn looks like trying to rewrite, break, bend, the rules, loopholes in contracts and agreements come up as a topic, and the thing is now Mercury can actually “break” these rules and boundaries because Mercury can actually move past Saturn, where that wasn’t the case previously. There can be issues with writing, such as slander, copying, plagiarism, etc. This is a theme for this week though, but this aspect perfects on Wednesday.
We also have the Moon conjoining the Sun for the New Moon in Pisces at the start of March. The New Moon is difficult for the Moon because the Moon is in the process of being burnt up by the beams of the Sun, and then reignited and purified with energy when entering the heart. We physically feel the shift in our bodies when the Moon is overpowered by the Sun, versus when she is released by the Sun Beams as the Visible Crescent Moon tomorrow on Thursday.
Historically, the New Moon was actually known as the moment the Moon becomes visible after it conjoins the Sun (which was called the Dark Moon, since the Moon is invisible when conjoined to the Sun). In the sign of Pisces, Jupiter is also highlighted for this New Moon, and what is happening this week is both of the luminaries will apply to Jupiter. Jupiter having a meeting with the luminaries looks like meeting up with authorities and people to discuss obtaining justice and righteousness. This is Jupiter’s sign, so Jupiter has some strength and a lot of support to bring about a movement of peace and balance. William Lilly calls Jupiter the author of Temperance, Modesty, Sobriety, and Justice. Efforts towards peace are taken this week, Pisces is the sign of Venus’ exaltation, and Venus will enter Pisces on April 4th and will conjoin Jupiter on April 30th. This is a Mutable Sign, so the shifting of the tides and transitions are highlighted. Mutable signs represent the liminality between seasons, embodying both characteristics, and representing the fluctuation and end of one season into the birth of a new one. Pisces is the transition from Winter to Spring, and this is where everything is seeded and planted with fertile ground. Jupiter is seen to be the planet representative of providing a temperate amount of heat and moisture needed for life to grow, and being such a big part of the lunation, this is a great time to be seeding projects, ideas, thoughts. You don’t need to start anything, but you need to plant a seed for what you want your vision of the future to look like. Just write it out, because if you write out your seed, it becomes real by being placed on a document (a piece of paper), and can grow and blossom with the support of Jupiter.
A seed of hope is planted. A new hope. #StarWars
Thursday March 3rd
(3:43 AM ET) Mars conjoins Pluto at 27º50’ Capricorn
(6:37 AM ET) The Moon conjoins Neptune at 22º29’ Pisces
(12:55 PM ET) Venus conjoins Pluto at 27º50’ Capricorn
(4:15 PM ET) The Moon in Pisces sextile Venus at 27º57’ Capricorn
(4:44 PM ET) The Moon in Pisces sextile Mars at 28º14’ Capricorn
(7:52 PM ET) INGRESS: The Moon enters Aries
On Thursday, we get to another juicy moment in the month where Mars and Venus simultaneously conjoin Pluto. Mars and Venus walk arm and warm together through Pluto, they actually pass through Pluto quite ferociously. Mars conjoining Pluto first brings in the force of an impact, and it does talk about the extreme need to take action. Mars is a fighter and its next enemy it needs to clear out is the God of the Underworld. Everything hidden beneath the surface becomes maximized, and Mars must stand up to it all. Mars is at 27º of Capricorn which is its Exaltation Degree, it is the single degree in the zodiac where Mars is the most dignified and supported, and Mars is an incredible fighter here, and in Capricorn, it is equivalent to a rock climber reaching the top of the mountain looking down over what they just climbed up. Mars is extremely strong here and will have to make a decision to use intense power since it conjoins Pluto. Mars is dragging Venus into this mess, because Venus is there as well too conjoining Pluto, so relationship dynamics could get really messy and issues of power and control in relationships also become important too. Mars not taking responsibility for dragging Venus into this situation, and then the challenging situation Venus will find herself in as a result of Mars’s lawlessness in actions. Mars finds intense strength and power to act and to get things done, to make meaningful and impactful change. The Moon will be witnessing everything going on in here from a sextile and then crosses into Aries, ruled by this Mars as the exaltation degree. It highlights confrontation, power, action, fights, conflict, identity, self, loneliness, and the beginning. Throughout the majority of the day though, the Moon will be applying to Neptune, which brings in themes around distortion of the truth, what is real, covering up the truth, blurring the lines, and obscurity. Things may seem ominous, especially going into Friday.
Friday March 4th
Friday is a very interesting day this week because there is nothing happening in the sky. It’s like after there is this huge climax of Mars and Pluto conjoining and its the utilization of such intense power, and then the day after is just silence. The Moon will be transiting through Aries, and spearing the way through the zodiac. There is anger, rage, frustration, but no where to direct it, until tomorrow. We will have to stand in what it means to be ourselves. What does it mean to have agency? What does it mean to have authority? If your plans don’t go as expected today, the Moon is technically void, which is a sign to do nothing.
Saturday March 5th
(6:55 AM ET) The Moon in Aries sextile Saturn at 19º18’ Aquarius
(9:06 AM ET) SYNODIC CYCLE: Jupiter Cazimi at 14º58’ Pisces
(2:49 PM ET) The Moon in Aries sextile Mercury at 23º32’ Aquarius
(11:01 PM ET) The Moon in Aries square Pluto at 27º54’ Capricorn
As we transition into Saturday, the Moon makes a sextile to Saturn and Mercury, which highlights the action that is taken to create and establish law and order with Mercury and Saturn. The Moon in Aries calls us to take initiative, to get energized, and to bring forward motion. Don’t think, act, says the Ram.
Jupiter is highlighted as the main planet this week, and especially today as Jupiter cojoins the Sun, called a Cazimi. When a planet is Cazimi, it is in the heart of the Sun, sitting upon the throne with the Sun and having the same agency as the Sun to execute its ideals. The planet becomes purified, renewed with energy, and reborn when it is visible again. In Jupiter’s case, Jupiter will emerge from the Sun’s beams and become visible on March 20th, the day of the Sun’s Annual Ingress into Aries. Jupiter gets filled with optimism, hope, clarity, purpose, understanding of what things mean, justice, balance, and temperance: Jupiter represents all of these things.
To add the cherry on top, Jupiter is at the 15º mark of Pisces, which is halfway through the zodiac sign. Jupiter since December 28th, 2021 has made it halfway through the Sun, and may have felt somewhat lost. Jupiter was in the final phase of its synodic cycle, as an Evening Star in the sky, when it entered Pisces in December, and the first half of this transit was characterized by feeling lost, loss of faith, hope, trust; I think of this half of Jupiter in Pisces kind of like when you go to the beach and see signs that say “Swim at Your Own Risk”. That was this first half of Pisces, since Jupiter was ending its cycle. Now that Jupiter has conjoined the Sun at the halfway mark, things will feel drastically different coming into this next half of Jupiter in Pisces from March 5th to May 10th, 2022. Jupiter will be a Morning Star in this half, eager to bring about justice, peace, and temperance, youthful and quick in nature. Planets that are morning stars are seen to be more youthful since they just conjoined the Sun, whereas planets as an evening star are said to be older and slower since they are at their fullness and end of their cycle. Jupiter in Pisces won’t feel like this feeling of being lost, wandering, and just floating around in an aimless way, and now a conjunction to the Sun brings more purpose, focus, and inspiration to achieve a goal. Jupiter conjoining the Sun can induce dreams, visions, omens, of good faith.
Jupiter is starting a new cycle now though, and this story of Jupiter in Pisces will be a story of expansion in the house Pisces rules in your chart for the next year (until the next time Jupiter conjoins the Sun again, in 2023). Here’s a timeline:
March 21st: PHASIS, Jupiter emerges from the Sun’s Beams (12º separating conjunction) and becomes visible as a Morning Star. From this moment forward, Jupiter will be visible in the Eastern Sky just before sunrise at 18º47’ Pisces.
April 12th: Jupiter conjoins Neptune at 23º58’ Pisces
April 30th: Venus conjoins Jupiter at 27º57’ Pisces
May 4th: SHADOW, Jupiter enters Pre-Retrograde Shadow at 28º47’ Pisces
May 10th: Jupiter enters Aries
July 28th: (FIRST STATION) Jupiter stations Retrograde at 8º43’ Aries
Oct 28th: Jupiter re-enters Pisces
Nov 23rd: (SECOND STATION) Jupiter stations Direct at 28º47’ Pisces
Dec 20th: Jupiter re-enters Aries
Sunday March 6th
(1:22 AM ET) INGRESS: Mars enters Aquarius
(1:29 AM ET) INGRESS: Venus enters Aquarius
(2:12 AM ET) Venus conjoins Mars at 00º01’ Aquarius
(2:59 AM ET) INGRESS: The Moon enters Taurus
(3:05 AM ET) The Moon in Taurus squares Mars at 00º03’ Aquarius
(3:06 AM ET) The Moon in Taurus squares Venus at 00º03’ Aquarius
The tone of the week really changes on Sunday, and sets up next week, and the entire rest of the month. Venus and Mars both simultaneously change since (while the Moon is in Mars’ sign going into Venus’ sign), the focus is geared towards the second out of two conjunctions that Venus and Mars were making.
In February, Mars made the application to Venus bringing challenging experiences to Venus, this can look like breaking the law, oath, agreement, doing something sneaky, betrayal, and challenges within the relationships with other people (romantic or any type of relationship), and Venus didn’t have the speed to catch up to Mars because she was just finishing her Retrograde cycle. This time around, Venus catches up to Mars and makes an application, tagging Mars back– payback. Venus has more strength in this situation to tame and bring order to Mars, since she is a benefic planet applying to a malefic planet, she is bringing her benevolence to Mars. Venus represents balance, justice, diplomacy, and Venus is a diplomat coming to interfere with Mars’s plans. She makes a conjunction and on the other side of Mars: she finds Saturn, realizing she has just been lead into a trap. The need for diplomacy and to make peace is weaponized. Mars was just the bait to bring Venus to conform to Saturn’s orthodoxy, because now this conjunction is in the sign of Aquarius instead of Capricorn. Mars was exalted in Capricorn, but in Aquarius, he has no dignity. Venus has dignity just by being in an Earth Sign (by Triplicity) in Capricorn, so she received strength and support, but now in Aquarius, she also loses dignity. Venus and Mars are interlocked in a relationship that they don’t want to be in and Saturn will work to separate them.
This configuration that occurs on this day is called Besiegement. Here is my definition for this configuration:
Besiegement occurs when one planet is in between aspects of both malefic planets (Mars and Saturn). When the planet is besieged, it is trapped in a difficult and challenging situation, and the effects can manifest as feeling worrisome, distressed, fearful, in between a rock and a hard place, the tension that arises from the elephant in the room, trapped, stuck, uncomfortable, surrounded by pressure, hopeless, captured, imprisoned, held hostage, being bound up, enemies and attackers coming at you from multiple sides. What is being attacked depends on the planet being besieged.
When Venus is besieged, this can represent obstruction of justice, bullying, breaking of contracts, being frightened and scared, breaking of promises or oaths, controversy, backing someone into a corner, attack on peace.
Venus is not in the best of situations this month her ingress into Aquarius on this day reflects the vibe of the month. Our sense of fun, joy, pleasure, and comfort are going to feel lessened by the external pressure of Mars and Saturn. If there’s any time to apply more effort toward self-care, it’s this month. Venus asks us to identify what brings us joy and pleasure. Is it love if it hurts us? If it’s willing to risk your protection? Is it love if you’re forced to hold this much pain? There will be a lot of questions around what brings us joy and makes us happy, our sense of attraction, and likeness and as Mars and Venus move through Aquarius, the gap of the besiegement zone will close and will squeeze Venus in.
Venus is a natural significator of relationships, so people in relationships may find themselves in an uncomfortable position, or having a lot of strain be put on their relationships. I think strain is a great word to describe this situation, and Venus is STRESSED out. For more context, this is the first time Venus is going to be changing zodiac signs since November because it went Retrograde in Capricorn from Dec-January. After 4 months of an extended stay in one zodiac sign, she finally leaves to end up in a considerably worse condition. Things may feel as if they were better in the past than in the future for March. One of the other things I must point out about this month is that while this besiegement is happening, Jupiter, Mercury, the Sun, and Neptune are all up in Pisces, unable to witness what’s going on. This makes me think that the besiegement of venus is something that will happen covertly, behind closed doors, in a hidden manner, and because planets in Pisces are averse to planets in Aquarius: they won’t be able to recognize the harm and damage being done. Be mindful of this based on where the Pisces and Aquarius parts of your chart are, they will become heavily highlighted in the next month. You’ll feel a lot of strain put in the Aquarius Houses, and maybe gullible optimism in the Pisces Chart.
Venus and Mars entering Saturn’s sign while Saturn is in that sign (Aquarius) is important because Saturn now takes center stage this month Venus’ diplomacy between Mars and Saturn put Saturn’s orthodoxy in favor and the power dynamic is around Saturn’s hegemony. Venus is trying to suppress Mars who wants to rebel and cause fights, and through entering in the middle of Mars and Saturn, Venus can temporarily create a buffer to prevent calamity from happening. Venus enters into besiegement because she is trying to prevent Mars and Saturn from conjoining and making an aspect. Venus is diplomacy being used as a stalemate, while something is brewing and getting ready in the background, as Mars follow in Venus’ footsteps throughout the month.
The Moon enters Taurus on the day all of this is being initiated and actually makes a square to BOTH Mars and Venus as they’ve freshly entered into Aquarius. The Moon is the only planet that can witness what has just happened to Venus. The Sun and Jupiter are in Pisces, unaspected to Aquarius, and Mercury can provide testimony by co-presence to this configuration too. So the Moon’s aspects will be important for timing how this news about Venus’ Besiegement gets spread or shared, because even though there is this great new beginning going on with Jupiter, there is a terrible situation the other benefic is in this chart.
In times like these, you’ll learn to appreciate what joy you can find even when there seemingly isn’t any. A lot of the topics and themes in this newsletter this week are very heavy, and it’s personally been very hard to try to translate all of this information out from the sky to the English language, so take it easy and give yourself the opportunity to step back from astrology if it becomes too much information to process and think about. Part of being an Astrologer is knowing how to responsibly handle information because the scary thing about Astrology is that it has the power to reflect everything that happens on Earth. You become aware of the entire dynamic of a situation and the flow of events in the world. Astrology does provide the ability for someone to know the future, and if you are not in a space where you can handle that knowledge, that is perfectly fine, taking a step back from Astrology is very healthy. Setting limits around divination and what extrasensory information you’re allowing yourself to consume will lead to a healthier engagement with this practice. We all have agency and free will even when things seem bleak, but the beauty of Astrology is that it reflects what we can do given the circumstances. It shows us our options. I want you to consider the options, no matter how tiny, that can lead to joy. To small moments of joy. Joy is scarce this month, and it won’t be like this permanently, because Venus does enter into her exaltation on April 5th, where she is in a radically different position where she is incredibly supported by Jupiter in Pisces, so there is hope, but know for the moment it may not look like this. Appreciate what you currently have, and the small moments of joy. Scarcity is a Saturnian quality. Joy doesn’t need to be extravagant and elaborate. Joy can be a simple smile. It can be looking into someone’s eyes. It can be the smell of a flower. It can be the roof over your head. It can be the clothes on your back. It can be the bed you sleep on. Privilege in a society heavily impacts one’s capacity for experiencing joy, and how society determines who can experience joy and what that experience should look like.
Be kind to yourself, be kind to others, and think about how you can contribute to making the world around you a better place even when the external political realities we live in create conditions that pit us against each other. The benefics (Venus and Jupiter) is something that needs to come from the will of the soul to manifest. Bringing joy, balance, trust, and peace is an active practice and it isn’t just one action: it is a way of life.
Knowing when to step back from the limits and not cross the line will be important for this week and this month. I’m praying for everyone’s safety and that everyone will have a good week ahead of them.
