Introduction

Welcome everyone to the Week Ahead. This week features the Mars/Saturn conjunction in Aquarius bringing the two malefics together for a celestial thunderstorm. Rain begins to fall when Venus enters her exaltation in the sign of Pisces, making our hearts compassionate, open, and sympathetic towards the collective, since she will be ruled by Jupiter. The Moon will be pretty slow in the coming week, while waxing in light, she conjoins her apogee on Thursday, slowing down the pace of things, after last week’s pressure and crunch time. This week moves into taking things slow and easy as Mercury is our first planet to enter Taurus, by the end of the week. Mercury comes together in a sextile with the malefics this week, making Mercury #TeamMalefic this week, then changing sides when it enters Taurus. Let’s jump into this week because we have a LOT to cover.
Monday April 4th
[7:09 AM ET] The Moon in Taurus squares Mars at 21º56’ Aquarius
[7:29 AM ET] The Moon in Taurus sextile Jupiter at 22º06’ Pisces
[7:57 AM ET] The Moon in Taurus squares Saturn at 22º21’ Aquarius
[9:51 PM ET] Mars conjoins Saturn at 22º24’ Aquarius
[9:52 PM ET] The Moon in Taurus squares Venus at 29º24’ Aquarius
[11:04 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Gemini
Monday is the climax of our week, since Mars conjoins Saturn, while the Moon is simultaneously squaring them, speeding up the effects they intend to bring. Mars and Saturn are the two malefic planets, both representing corruptive forces that work against or interrupt the flow of life, whereas Venus and Jupiter are the benefics that support the flow of life and provide protection from harm.
Mars brings challenges, urgency & action to the topics Saturn rules in your chart. The house Aquarius rules shows what topics these new set of issues will revolve around. This conjunction is here to highlight major structural and longevity issues with the house Aquarius & Capricorn rules in your chart, moreso Aquarius since the conjunction will actually be in this sign. These issues will need to be reviewed & revised when Saturn goes Retrograde (from June 4th to Oct 23rd, 2022). Mars is an extremely hot planet, whereas Saturn is extremely cold. You’ll experience this polarizing quality of simultaneously hot and cold situations in the house Aquarius rules. This situation will develop further this summer on August 7th, 2022 during the first Mars/Saturn Square. Ironically it happens at the same degree as the conjunction, 22°. As this conjunction opens new chapters & introduces areas we need to apply more enduring and persistent effort towards, we realize the challenges that were planted in April become realized in August.
As for the hot and cold qualities, and which one has more dominance in this situation, Mars is in Saturn’s sign, and Saturn is receiving Mars by sign but also by its conjunction since Mars moves faster than Saturn, it is the planet initiating the interaction between them. Saturn is receiving Mars’ conflict and anger, and because Saturn is the lord of Mars, it has the ability to bind up Mars’ will or freedom to be able to exert action.
This was the theme for the last Mars/Saturn conjunction on March 31st, 2020. COVID & lockdowns, Aquarian imagery around isolation, social distancing, disconnecting, questioning different ways that govern our societal interaction. Mars and Saturn coming together in an Air sign is an indicator of harmful winds or harmful air. The two malefics are making the element of air very harmful. This could refer to 1) another covid outbreak (already happening) 2) pollution 3) stuff going on w the atmosphere. Both Mars and Saturn are eastern, morning rising, and Al Biruni tells us that if Mars is a morning star, it indicates.
“Leading in battle, commanding, armies, reputation for courage, eagerness for conquest, quickness in business, success in mining”
If Saturn is Morning Rising, it indicates,
“Beginning of old age, happy in farming and art of irrigation, profound and affective Judgment, sharp and authoritative dispatch of all business matters.”
Saturn receiving Mars’ today, and both planets will square the South Node exactly, it looks like Mars is planning an attack on Saturn, which is infrastructure, the way people stay connected (in Aquarius, Air Sign), & where we find our will & ability to take action being bound, because Saturn is trying to restrain Mars, especially since Mars is gaining more confidence and strength as it gets ready to sextile the sun, opening up this new Mars cycle that started Oct 9th, when the Sun conjoined Mars, beginning a new 2-year long cycle. Mars conjoining Saturn, being the opening of Mars’ cycle in relationship to the Sun, shows us that there are some chronic and potentially long-term issues being highlighted in the house that Aquarius rules in ur chart that will be solved over the next 2 yrs. Saturn is now in the middle of Venus and Mars, separating and allowing Venus to leave the zone where conflict is happening, in the sign of Aquarius, and move into a place of peace, support, and refuge tomorrow when she enters Pisces, her exaltation. Venus finds aid and relief, and Saturn has to now take care of the aggressor. Luckily the Moon is able to reach her domicile lord, literally right before she leaves that sign, it’s like the Moon is translating the information of what happened with Mars & Saturn to Venus. Monday is probably one of the more tense days of the week, and then the release of all that energy is what moves forward into the week.
The conjunction has already made itself apparent for me. It was in my 9th house of travel, and when I was driving on the local interstate, my back tire popped unexpectedly, and I pulled over to the side of the road and tried to get this situation fixed like all day. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, but I was really frantic, scared, and didn’t want to have to spend a fortune on repairs. If the Mars/Saturn conjunction is in the 3rd, 6th, 9th, or 12th house, they can be milder in the harm they bring. It’s less severe, in comparison to if the conjunction is in the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th then the issues might be more overt and urgent. One of the things that are said about malefics in cadent houses is that they just indicate fear, and that’s it. Kind of like an empty threat.
Ultimately, with this Mars/Saturn conjunction it can be a great time to learn how to apply persistent effort under stress and challenging circumstances. Mars brings action & Saturn requires patience, although because Mars has management over both the Sun and Mercury, they are impatient in Aries. Saturn takes Mars’ energy and vitality and stretches it out over a long period of time, transforming a sprint into a marathon.
Tuesday April 5th
(11:17 AM ET) INGRESS: Venus enters Pisces
The Moon entered Gemini last night and will be running through the void until Wednesday Morning when the first aspect it makes is at 16º. This makes me think of a lot of talking, but not a lot of action or planning, having to take a raincheck or things being post posted today. When the Moon is void, she’s not making any connections or aspects to any other planets for either a given period of the zodiac, or a period of time. I like to use both in my analysis, and regardless it is indicative of nothing happening, or the sky being quiet, because the Moon is the closest planet to Earth who moves around the sky, collects the stars and other planet’s light, and then dispenses them and releases it onto Earth. The Moon being void is a time to just rest and relax, and speaking of those very things, Venus will enter into Pisces, her exaltation, where she will be strengthened, supported, and in an environment where she has tools and resources to bring about the things she signifies.
After intense pressure & stress comes a wave of serenity. When a planet is exalted, it is said to be in the sign that is its kingdom. Venus represents love, relationships, friendship, pleasure, physical and material enjoyment, devotion, balance. When she is exalted, she is placed in a position where she is able to make these experiences happen and has high expectations. Venus brings romance to the fantasy of Jupiter. It is indulgence in the feelings between others. Pisces is the sign of both benefics, who bring optimism. People have many opinions on the sign of Pisces but both of the benefics having a huge influence over this sign makes this a really auspicious and favorable sign. The vibes are balanced, they’re fluid, indulgent, warm, and feels like a snuggly jacuzzi. Venus highlights our need for physical pleasure, indulgence, and creative expression— I mean Venus being in Pisces with Jupiter here is kind of a big deal. The planet that exalts her is home in their sign. The two benefics will come together to achieve balance and peace. If Venus is exalted, Venus’ desire for fairness and justice has an even higher expectation to achieve order, balance, peace, and she has the support, resources, and ability to do that. Venus organizes the masses to bring a wave of creative expression in April. The connection of art to Pisces comes from Venus being exalted in this sign. Pisces have a strong sense of balance and justice with Venus exalting here too. Venus uses art to connect with the masses and make people FEEL an experience. Not just see it. Become IMMERSED in it. If the benefics are strengthened, they have the ability to bring good fortune, good spirits, friendliness, friendship, trust, honesty, commitment, faithfulness, devotion, and work to see the good and be the good in each other. The benefics make experiences moderated and pleasant.
Venus is really working to break repairs to the stress and harm that’s been taking place, and it’s almost like a reminder to just rest, relax, and take it easy. Find the beauty in everyday, and be appreciative of the things around you that you currently do have. Venus and Jupiter’s conjunction in Pisces could definitely be about material fulfillment for some, but I think in the sign of Jupiter, fulfillment, and contentment comes from the appreciation of what you do have, especially basics.
I will forewarn that Venus and Jupiter will eventually conjoin Neptune, there is room to act like everything is fine and nothing is okay, and to get lost in that delusion. Neptune and Venus are really the rose-colored glasses aspect, and especially in conjunction, it’s becoming enamored with something that may have unseen consequences or ulterior motives. My best advice is to practice moderation with any sort of indulgence during this time, because the conditions are being created for addiction to take place, whether it be to drugs, or to sex, or to toxic personalities, you can become addicted and obsessed with anything. So I advise people to take this foreknowledge into account when making decisions, because it can be very easy to over-indulge with Venus and Jupiter here, but if Neptune wasn’t in the picture, I wouldn’t be giving this same delineation. In other ways, this will be AMAZING for creative pursuits and ventures, as Venus as the planet of art and creation in an exalted position is the emergence of beauty, art, and the erotic in full effect, after a period of hardship and strife (since Sept 10th). Venus brings another period of fluidity and openness with socialization. In relationship to COVID, we’re seeing governments trying to declare the pandemic over, and I think the relationship between the benefics with Neptune and the malefics in Aquarius is there being a really urgent matter concerning diseases and illness (Mars applying to Saturn bringing chronic issues) and Venus and Jupiter are kinda acting oblivious like nothings wrong, or are choosing to ignore urgent and pressing matters. Use this Venus in Pisces transit to bring balance to whatever is already brewing in the house Aquarius rules in your chart, not to create new problems through bypassing lack of acknowledgment, in other words, you can’t drink your problems away, you can’t sex them away, you can’t get rid of them with vices. You have to take action to confront the issue head-on, without fear. The benefics coming together in Pisces looks like a place where there is shelter and refuge based on the house Pisces falls in your chart, paired with major thunderstorms and lightning strikes in the house Aquarius rules in your chart. Use Venus in Pisces as an opportunity to restore balance, not to create the illusion of balance. A quote from James Baldwin:
Art is here to prove that all saftey is an illusion.
The crime you are guilty of is not so much that you are aware, but that other people see that you are and cannot bear to watch it
Because it testifies to the fact that you are bearing witness to something which everyone knows, but nobody wants to face
Everyone’s hurt.
What’s important, what drives you, torments you, is that you must find some way of using this to connect with everyone else alive.
Artist are here to distrub the [illusion of] peace.
Wednesday April 6th
[8:31 AM ET] The Moon in Gemini sextiles the Sun at 16º41’ Aries
[5:56 PM ET] The Moon in Gemini sextiles Mercury at 21º20’ Aries
[8:26 PM ET] The Moon in Gemini trines Saturn at 22º34’ Aquarius
[8:41 PM ET] The Moon in Gemini squares Jupiter at 22º42’ Pisces
[10:53 PM ET] The Moon in Gemini squares Neptune at 23º47’ Pisces
[11:14 PM ET] The Moon in Gemini trines Mars at 23º57’ Aquarius
On Wednesday, the Moon in Gemini, after floundering through the void finally reaches some of the planets, most of whom are at later degrees, except Venus. The Moon is going to be waxing while in Gemini, so its as if our knowledge and perception of things are growing, and we can find ways to apply and use the knowledge we have. This is a great day for learning something new, however, the ruler of the Moon is Mercury, who recently just conjoined the Sun, and is getting ready to emerge out of the beams of the Sun, but still combust, so communication and our nerves are back to being on the fritz and high energy, like a ball of fireworks and pop rocks. Saturn and Jupiter are roughly 30 degrees away from each other, so as the Moon applies to trine Saturn, it simultaneously squares Jupiter. The Moon gains more confidence by increasing in light, gains more knowledge about the pressing situation going on with Mars/Saturn. Saturn in the 9th is knowledge of hidden matters, ancient or hidden knowledge, something secret or hidden being revealed, and that present a challenge in faith, since the Moon is in conflict with Jupiter. Things may get kind of confusion and illusions around honesty are highlighted as Jupiter applies towards Neptune, this can create gossip, rumors, delusion, but the thing is that the ruler of the Moon (Mercury) is weak, and the last time it aspected Jupiter was when it was in Pisces, the sign it is depressed and exiled in, so they didn’t have the best of interactions, Mercury misunderstood Jupiter, and now is upset in Aries. Be careful around rumors, lies, gossip, and slander amongst friends, communities, and groups of people especially since the ruler of the Moon is in the 11th house from the Moon (Aries is the 11th from Gemini), and Mars is in the 9th from the Moon (Aquarius is the 9th house from Gemini, ruling the 11th house from Gemini). There is a LOT to talk about on Wednesday, and speech definitely gets inflammatory. The last aspect being made by the end of the day is Mars, and this could leave us ending the day feeling on edge. The trines to the malefics create conditions that allow their malevolence to easily manifest. Today looks like a crisis of faith in others because of conflict and disputes in information and twisting of the truth.
Thursday April 7th
[8:37 AM ET] Mercury in Aries sextiles Saturn at 22º36’ Aquarius
[11:30 AM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Cancer
[3:10 PM ET] The Moon conjoins the Lunar Apogee at 01º48’ Cancer
[4:19 PM ET] The Moon in Cancer trine Venus at 02º22’ Pisces
On Thursday, Mercury is getting ready to make a sextile to both of the malefics, which makes Mercury #TeamMalefic in the sky right now. Mercury is making the first aspect to both Saturn, since its conjunction was on March 2nd, and to Mars for the first time since their conjunction in Scorpio on Nov 9th. Mercury has orders from the Sun (since it is the most recent planet it conjoined) to news to deliver, and the first stop is to both of the malefic planets, one of them being its ruler. Saturn and Mars are both receiving Mercury, because Saturn is receiving Mercury through Mars, and Mars is the lord of Mercury, so whatever trickery Mercury aims to accomplish in Aries will be supported by both Mars and Saturn, who are in agreement and collaboration with this. Mercury being in Aries is a Mercury who is operating under the orders of malefic Mars, representing urgency, alarms, alerts, in news and information. This could be representative of something like a fire alarm or having to take swift actions amongst challenging circumstances because of the instability of infrastructure (Mars applying to Saturn = attacks on stability and infrastructure). That news gets delivered today. The Moon also slows down as well too as it enters Cancer, because it will be approaching its apogee, so it be moving very slow. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are all relatively slower days as the Moon takes approximately 60 hours to move through the sign of Cancer. I personally think this is a great time to take a moment to rest and think thoughtfully and deliberately about how you can bring balance and restore peace, since the Moon will make a beautiful trine to Venus today. This can actually be really great for love and romance connections, but the Moon is slow, so keep in mind that will be reflected in the speed of the situation.
Friday April 8th
[2:18 PM ET] Mercury in Aries sextiles Mars at 25º11’ Aquarius
On Friday, the only aspect we have today is the sextile between Mercury and Mars, which is a continuation of events from yesterday. Mercury will aspect its domicile lord, from a positive aspect, which is typically seen as a good thing in the reception between planets, and you know Mercury is pretty happy about where Mars is coming from, since Mercury has dignity by triplicity in Aquarius. I think of Mercury-Mars in connection together about being inflammatory information, warnings, sirens, it is a Mercury whose job is to be loud and alert. This is both Mercury and Mars’ next aspect after both of their previous aspects, so it’s as if they’re working together to orchestrate some escape from both of their challenging situations, and move into something better. Mercury is under the beams of the Sun, and Mars is with Saturn. Trickery with the rules and laws.
This shouldn’t be a surprise. Mercury and Mars have been working together since October 9th, when they all conjoined the Sun in Libra. Entangled in legal business and situations, Mercury and Mars reconvene today to discuss future planets, and Mercury is getting ready to return back to the sky on 4/20 at 18º Taurus. Mercury is currently under the beams right now, so all of the interactions Mercury is currently doing is behind closed doors, in confidence, in secret, without any public visibility. When Mercury makes an appearance, it is expected to make a statement or publicly deliver news, but it will do this in Taurus, not Aries. When Mercury makes its appearance in Taurus, it will be setting up the next Retrograde cycle in Taurus/Gemini for May-June.
Saturday April 9th
[2:47 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer squares the Sun at 19º24’ Aries
[10:36 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer trines Jupiter at 23º17’ Pisces
[11:46 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer trines Neptune at 23º52’ Pisces
[7:25 AM ET] The Moon in Cancer squares Mercury at 27º42’ Aries
[9:01 PM ET] The Moon in Cancer opposes Pluto at 28º30’ Capricorn
[11:59 PM ET] INGRESS: The Moon enters Leo
As we move into the weekend, Saturday features the Moon in Cancer, in her home sign, waxing (increasing in light), and making a square to the Sun. There is stress being placed on the Moon’s sense of comfort and stability from an exalted Sun, and she must find support from Jupiter and Venus. When the Sun and Moon are in disagreement, it is a day where there can be conflict over actions, decision making, and feeling inconsistent, flakey, or unsure of what decision should be made, despite knowing the pressures that loom from the Sun. The Sun wants us to identify what it is that we want, and this may be in conflict with what we feel comfortable with. As the Moon applies to Jupiter, we find an opportunity to open our minds up to different possibilities and expectations, because Jupiter is in the 9th sign from the Moon, showing what influences our worldview and perspective. The Moon makes a square to Mercury bringing conflict or challenging news, information, and alarms since they’re in conflict with each other. Our nervous and anxiety can definitely be felt disrupting the natural flow of our body, so this would be a great time to know when you should step back from the stress and look for a place to gain inner balance as the Moon gets ready to enter Leo by the last minute of the night. Mercury and the Moon get the people TALKING, because it’s the two messengers coming together in an argument, yelling, or verbal conflict. The Moon just wants to chill at home, and Mercury and the Sun are egging the Moon on will all of these things they have to do. There may be a disconnect in why there is conflict of information because the Moon is unable to see Mercury’s ruler, which is representative of the Moon’s lack of awareness to the current management of the circumstances Mercury is under. Mercury asks the Moon to abandon its comfort zone, and she’s really getting tired and wants to rest, so she moves through Leo where she will also be running through the void throughout all of Sunday.
Sunday April 10th
[4:45 AM ET] Mercury in Aries squares Pluto at 28º30’ Capricorn
[10:09 PM ET] INGRESS: Mercury enters Taurus
On Sunday, not only has the Moon changed signed, Mercury ingresses into Taurus today, moving into a different whole sign than the Sun. This is going to be pretty important as an ingress, because once Mercury enters Taurus, it will be here until June 13th, when it enters Gemini. Mercury is going to go Retrograde here in Taurus, so the house Taurus rules in someone’s chart will be light up during the next few months especially. There’s currently a lot of activity happening in this house: Uranus has been here since 2018, the North Node entered here Jan 18th, 2022, and now the Mercury Retrogrades in Spring are going to be in Taurus in 2022 and 2023. Mercury generally likes to be in Taurus, because it is an Earth Sign, but Mercury enters into a state of contention because its ruler, Venus in Pisces, is in the sign that Mercury is depressed and exiled in, so Mercury is still responding to the circumstances and conditions of Jupiter and Pisces, just through Venus. However, even though Mercury is responding to a planet located in a sign Mercury is severely challenged in, that is the sign that Venus finds her exaltation and she doesn’t have the same relationship to Pisces that Mercury does. So while Mercury is expecting grounding and practicality about facts, information, and data but instead, Venus is giving pretty presentations, beautiful illustrious displays, and what seems like a fantasy. Mercury asks us to use our discerning skills to see what bullshit is sprayed with fairy and pixie dust. Venus wants to act like everything is all fine, but Mercury enters a whole sign square with Saturn, bringing slowness in messages, transportation, delays, and even censorship or restriction of speech. That will be something dealt with as Mercury goes Retrograde and enters shadow by the end of the month. Venus isn’t in aspect to Saturn, so Venus cannot acknowledge the corruption Saturn is doing, because last time she met up with Saturn (March 28th) she was able to be freed from her entanglement with Mars. Mercury cannot say the same. The relationship of art, beauty, expression, words used in a creative context, talks about Venusian things like gender, sexuality, sex, all find themselves restricted under the orthodoxy of Saturn in Aquarius, meanwhile Venus is doing what she wants anyway. Mercury has access to the knowledge of what Venus doing in Pisces, and Saturn in Aquarius, but the other parties are unaware of how what they’re doing is counteractive to each other, and Mercury must watch as the messenger. This will be a longer story that starts today, but plays out until the middle of June.
Ultimately, the situation between Venus and Mercury may be challenging for other things, but great for finding community, love, friendship, and connection, amongst challenging or restrictive conditions. In the hardest of times, this is usually when people are the softest, or the cruelest. That is the nature of the astro weather with the two benefics conjoining and the two malefics conjoining.
Mercury also makes a square to Pluto today, which brings information up from the ground, reveals concealed or hidden information, and Pluto in the 10th sign from Mercury can make us fixated or even obsessive over a thought, idea, piece of data, text, we get a piece of information that unlocks some deeper perception. Speech can be combustive today, and wanting to really dig into insulting someone, so be mindful of that energy. Mercury and Pluto together bring the skeletons out of the mind through the mouth. We end the week in a state of contention, and the Moon still has to oppose to both of the malefic planets going into next week while in Leo. Stay tuned for next week.
